Mobile Simulation Prescribes Sterile Compounding Sim at Russell Medical

This spring, UAB Mobile Simulation helped Russell Medical Center fill a prescription for success.

On March 20, 2025, Mobile Simulation hit the road for Russell Medical in Alexander City for a sterile compounding simulation aimed at sharpening the skills of pharmacy staff.

Mobile Sim Draws Arterial Line Maintenance Simulation for RMCCA

In critical care, precision isn’t optional—it’s essential.

On Feb. 27, 2025, the UAB Mobile Simulation team partnered with Regional Medical Center of Central Alabama (RMCCA) in Greenville to host an arterial line maintenance simulation that brought precision and hands-on expertise to the forefront.

Through deliberate practice, participants assembled arterial line monitoring systems with supplies available at their institution, enhancing realism and immediate applicability. Learners honed critical skills in setup, maintenance and troubleshooting while emphasizing accuracy in monitoring patient vitals.

Mobile Sim Hosts Precipitous Delivery, Postpartum Hemorrhage Simulation at UAB St. Vincent's St. Clair

UAB Mobile Simulation delivers.

On March 18 and April 17, UAB Mobile Simulation teamed up with UAB St. Vincent’s St. Clair in Pell City and Dr. Sharon Phelan (adjunct professor, OB-GYN, UAB Medicine) to bring critical, hands-on obstetric training to rural Alabama.

The simulation focused on managing a precipitous delivery and postpartum hemorrhage (PPH), equipping health-care professionals with the skills needed to act swiftly and effectively during life-threatening emergencies. With the use of a high-fidelity birthing manikin, participants experienced a realistic and controlled environment where they practiced emergency interventions for uterine atony and active bleeding. Key learning objectives included early escalation of care, utilization of OB emergency kits, team role establishment and decisive response to hemorrhage.
