Mobile Team Brings Disruptive Patient Sim to Russell Medical

At Russell Medical Center, the Mobile Simulation team recently delivered a powerful behavioral health scenario focused on the disruptive patient, a challenge health-care workers face in real-world settings.

The session emphasized communication, de-escalation, and teamwork under pressure. Using a standardized patient, learners navigated the complexities of patient aggression while practicing safety strategies and therapeutic approaches to defuse tension and maintain control of the environment.

Staff Spotlight: Phillip Davison

This month, UAB Mobile Simulation is proud to highlight Phillip Davison, a clinical simulation specialist who plays a key role in supporting the mobile team.

Davison has been part of UAB Clinical Simulation for a little over a year and joined the Mobile Simulation team nine months ago. In his role as operational tech/specialist, he ensures each mobile session runs smoothly by managing equipment setup, coordinating technology, running simulations and troubleshooting on the move. Mobile Momentum and Mindset

Every quarter, I like to pause and share a little piece of what’s happening behind the scenes in Mobile Simulation. This season is all about momentum and mindset. We’ve been refining our curriculum and continuing to build on the work that keeps us inspired.

One of the highlights for me has been returning to Mizell Memorial Hospital after several years. Walking back into a space where we once planted seeds and now get to see how far things have grown—that’s the kind of full-circle moment that reminds me why we do this. The relationships, the trust, the commitment to learning… it all matters.

Whether we’re navigating Alabama backroads or navigating tough conversations in simulation, the mission never changes: keep growing, keep connecting, and keep showing up for the teams we serve.
