Introducing Percolate

A chance for you to talk with UAUS President and a special guest about thoughts that have been percolating.

This month, UAUS President, Alice Wood, will be joined by Katrina Glavan-Heise, who has previously served in that same role. Come talk with them about in-person special events.

  • What makes for a good conference or small gathering?
  • Is there something that prevents you from attending in-person events?
  • What kind of special events would you like to see offered?

No one is an expert on this topic. Just bring your favorite beverage and join the conversation.

We'll choose a different day and time each month to accommodate different schedules.

Tuesday, October 20, 6:00-6:45pm Central Time

Join us on Zoom at anytime. This is a free-flowing discussion with a general theme, but as conversations go, we might get off topic.

Survey Results About Virtual Associations

Results from this summer's survey, and next steps in the UAUS restructuring.

Small groups are an integral part of UAUS membership. They provide a space where new readers can mingle with experienced ones, where people can get to know each other and determine who should be sent to serve on the UAUS Council. As a part of our restructuring, we are forming local and virtual associations in which people coalesce around a shared region, interest, or purpose.

In preparation for this shift, we asked you what kind of groups you would like to see formed, and from this survey we received clear guidance about which groups people were most interested in.

For interest and purpose-based groups, most of our respondents wanted to see these groups formed:

  • Expo Outreach Association
  • Inspired Writers Association
  • Reader Services Association
  • Readers Corner Association
  • Worship, Study, and Serve Association

In addition to these interest and purpose-based groups, there is still a desire to have regional groups. All of the local associations that have long been meeting will continue to do so, uninterrupted, and we will likely form some new ones.

With this feedback, we will begin ushering people into the groups of their choice.

There are a lot of people to communicate with and a lot of preferences to take note of, so we're going to start by reaching out to our current members in a separate email, and then we will reach out to people on this list would like to become members.

Book Placement Success

Thank you to everyone who donated!

This past summer, UAUS agreed to help fund efforts to place The Urantia Book in libraries in Northern California. Even with most people accessing The Urantia Book online and on apps for their daily use, people still find it for the first time when it is physically placed on a shelf. Because of this, the UAUS Council feels that libraries and bookstores are an important outreach tool, and we were excited to help fund this project.

Donors felt the same way. With the help of six donors, we raised $265 for book placement, which Marian and Matt Hughes put to good use. You can read Marian's report about attending Urantia Book Fellowship's conference in Northern California, and then setting out on this book placement mission.
