A Celebration in Memory of
Professor Byron L. Warnken
Please join us on Thursday, October 23 to honor the memory of Professor Byron L. Warnken (February 14, 1946 – September 5, 2022) and his incredible legacy at the University of Baltimore School of Law. Learn more and register.
As a highlight of the evening, a portrait of Professor Warnken will be unveiled, which later will hang in the Moot Courtroom that bears his name.
The program begins at 6 p.m., with a reception to follow in the atrium. Guests will hear from UBalt Law Dean LaVonda Reed, the Warnken family, and Roberta Roper, founder of Maryland Crime Victims Resource Center, which commissioned and donated the portrait to honor Professor Warnken.
Friends may donate to the Law School Annual Giving Fund as a special tribute to Professor Warnken.

'What is the Rule of Law' on Oct. 8
UBalt Law faculty have put together a monthly series on issues around the rule of law. The next installment, "What is the Rule of Law and Why Does it Matter?," with Prof. Mortimer Sellers and Prof. Ioanna Tourkochoriti, takes place on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. in the Moot Courtroom.
The third panel, "The History of the Rule of Law," with Prof. John Bessler and Daniel Ernst, the Carmack Waterhouse Professor of Legal History at the Georgetown University Law Center, on Monday, Nov. 17 at 5 p.m. in the Moot Courtroom.
Registration is not required for these events.

Pro Bono Week Kickoff Event at UBalt Law Oct. 16
Join fellow attorneys, UBalt Law students and pro bono service providers at a free networking event on Thursday, Oct. 16 from 4:45 to 6:30 p.m. to mark the beginning of Pro Bono Week.
The event will take place on the courtyard off the .5 level. It's co-sponsored by the Law Career Development Office, UB Students for Public Interest, and the Pro Bono Resource Center. Learn more and register.
