Law Review Symposium on Antitrust Set for March 10
The UBalt Law Review is hosting a special symposium celebrating the career of Venable Prof. Robert H. Lande, a beloved teacher and colleague, on Friday, Mar. 10 from 9:30 to 6 p.m.
Lande, who is retiring from teaching this summer, was co-founder of the American Antitrust Institute, past chair of the Association of American Law Schools Antitrust Section, an award-winning scholar, and a leading intellectual force behind the 21st century’s reinvigorated antitrust movement.
Distinguished antitrust scholars, practitioners, policymakers and reform advocates will participate in a series of panel discussions addressing competition policy, antitrust law, and Lande’s vital role in shaping the national debate about the need to protect consumers from cartels and monopoly power. The South Asian Law Student Association (SALSA) will once again be active at UBalt Law. Executive board openings are treasurer, secretary and event chair. Applications for these positions should be submitted to Nirali.patel@ubalt.edu by Friday, Feb. 24 at 6 p.m.
The UBalt Campus Pantry is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from noon to 6 p.m., or by appointment (email pantry@ubalt.edu to schedule). The pantry has food, supplies and other resources for the campus community.

UBalt Law students, faculty and staff are invited to join the Maryland Association for Justice on Friday, Feb. 24 from 1 to 4 p.m. for an opportunity to learn the most effective ways to present a disputed liability jury trial.
Attendees at the Mock Trial, to be held in the Moot Courtroom, will learn useful strategies and tips for how to try a case and counter typical defense strategies and arguments, with time for a question-and-answer session to follow.
Dean Ronald Weich will portray the judge and preside over the proceedings. UBalt Law students will play several roles, such as witnesses. A networking reception will follow on .5 level.

Apply Now for Bar Exam Study Stipends
The School of Law is awarding Bar Exam Study Grants to students who are about to graduate, as well as recent graduates, who are at risk for passing the bar exam and who have demonstrated financial need.
These grants are intended to assist graduates who cannot otherwise afford to take time off from work to study for the bar, and/or those who have caregiving responsibilities that will limit their ability to devote time to bar prep.
The purpose of the grants is to allow grantees to take unpaid time off work or pay for substitute care, so they may devote more time to studying for the bar exam. Apply for a grant.
Grants will be awarded in the amount of $2,500 or $5,000, based on need, and disbursed AFTER graduation.

CARES Grants Available
The UBalt CARES & HEERF grants are provided by the U.S. Department of Education to support students who have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The maximum award amount for Spring 2023 is $1,500.
