Tuesday, 10/25: Learn About Study Abroad in Curacao
The law school's winter-term Program in Comparative and International Law in Curaçao provides a new perspective on the American legal system in an international context.

Through an intensive course of study in international and comparative law, from Dec. 18 through Jan. 2, the Curaçao program will help prepare you to practice law in the globalized world economy.
This session, study International and Comparative Sports Law with Prof. Dionne Koller, and International Civil Litigation with a Hofstra professor.

Overcoming Challenges to Proving Claims of Actual Innocence
Although we hear about an increasing number of exonerations in the news, experts say this represents a small fraction of those deserving of release from incarceration. What are the obstacles to proving actual innocence in our system?
On Thursday, Oct. 27 at 6, in the Moot Courtroom, hear from two longtime practitioners, Michele Nethercott and Erica J. Suter, and a 2016 exoneree, George Seward. Nethercott wrote an article on the topic for The University of Baltimore Law Review, which organized the event.
Heather Warnken, executive director of the law school's Center for Criminal Justice Reform, will moderate the discussion. A reception will follow.

Book Talk with Prof. John Bessler Nov. 3 |
Join Prof. John Bessler for a book talk in the 12th Floor Reading Room on Thursday, Nov. 3 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. to celebrate the publication of his new book, The Death Penalty's Denial of Fundamental Human Rights. The book details how capital punishment violates universal human rights-to life; to be free from torture and other forms of cruelty; to be treated in a non-arbitrary, non-discriminatory manner; and to dignity.
He will discuss the book with UBalt Law Prof. Tim Sellers and Diann Rust-Tierney, a human rights scholar at Georgetown Law Center. Associate Dean Colin Starger will moderate the discussion. A reception will follow.
