The Alexis and Jamey Federico Endowed Law Scholarship, made possible through the generosity of UC Irvine Law alumna Alexis Paschedag Federico (’16) and her spouse, Jamey M. Federico, is designed to support UC Irvine Law students who demonstrate perseverance in overcoming hardships or significant obstacles on their paths to their legal education.

2L Nazanin Dolatkhah (LL.M. '25) recently served as a judge for the U.S. National Rounds of the 2026 Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, the world's largest international moot court competition. The experience marked a full-circle moment for Nazanin, who previously competed in the Jessup International Rounds.

Program News: UC Irvine Offering New In-House Counsel Certificate Program, From Lawyer to Leader: Road to the GC Seat


UC Irvine Law and the Division of Continuing Education are launching a new 12-week online certificate program this August designed for junior and mid-level law firm attorneys seeking in-house positions, and in-house attorneys seeking to advance into senior in-house leadership roles. Through live sessions and expert instruction from seasoned general counsel and corporate executives across healthcare, tech, entertainment, consumer goods, mortgages, and finance, participants will build the strategic, managerial, and business skills needed to compete for — and succeed in — the general counsel seat. An application for California MCLE credit is pending approval.

Center News: UC Irvine Center for Legal Philosophy Hosted Discussion on Academic Freedom


The interdisciplinary UC Irvine Center for Legal Philosophy launched in 2017 as a partnership initiative of the Law School and School of Humanities. It serves as the official home to the collaborative activities of the UC Irvine community of scholars working and researching at the intersection of law and philosophy and related fields in the humanities. 

  

The Center engaged a standing-room-only crowd for a robust discussion of “What is Academic Freedom?” The university-wide event explored this timely and urgent question with Jeffrey Helmreich, Associate Professor, Philosophy and Law; Julia Lerch, Associate Professor of Sociology; Tyrus Miller, Dean, School of Humanities; and Jane Newman, Professor of Comparative Literature. 

  

The Center is directed by Law School Profs. Andrew Gold and Kenneth Simons, and Jeffrey Helmreich, Associate Professor, Philosophy and Law.
