News and Events for Libraries Supporters

Endowed University Librarian Lorelei Tanji.

It's already proving to be a busy year here within the UC Irvine Libraries. Since January, we have welcomed three new exhibits – America Informed: Wide World of US Federal Government Documents, Anteater Experience: 60th Anniversary of UC Irvine, and Remembering Saigon: Journeys through and from Guam – as well as a new student display featuring Petr the Anteatr stickers.

Additionally, new resources are available from the Libraries this month. We are now providing premium access to The Economist, for example, which produces independent journalism on topics from technology to geopolitics, finance, and economics. I'm also pleased to announce three new open access (OA) agreements with Oxford University Press, Copernicus Publications, and the American Society for Microbiology. These agreements will make it easier and less costly for UCI researchers to publish OA and will increase access to UCI research.

EXHIBIT

Anteater Experience: 60th Anniversary of UC Irvine

Commemorating the 60th anniversary of UC Irvine (1965–2025), Anteater Experience traces more than six decades of campus development. Using original campus photographs and archival documents, this exhibit highlights student life, sustainability, and landscape, particularly how UCI’s layout and design, including its iconic circular shape and lush Aldrich Park, formed under the guidance of architect William Pereira. Illustrating key features and milestones that have helped shape the campus culture and environment, Anteater Experience demonstrates how the campus transformed from ranch lands into an internationally recognized research institution.
