New Worship Series - FIERCE: Women Of The Bible
May 8 - June 12
Women in the bible aren’t always shy or quiet; they are more than just players in a man’s story or morality tales about how to be better wives and mothers. They’re fierce and funny and demanding. They are foremothers of the faith. Their stories are messy, challenging and beautiful, and relevant to 21st century people. When we pay attention to their stories, we can see not only their particular, fearsome lives but also our own.

Thank you all who came to worship with us this past Sunday in celebration of our resilient youth! We witnessed the baptism of our Disciples Class and celebrated with our graduating seniors at the Youth Banquet in the evening. We are so excited to see all that these incredible seniors will accomplish in the future!

Welcome our new Minister of Students, Alison Fitzgerald!
"I am absolutely thrilled to be coming back home to University Christian Church to serve alongside you all in this new way--as Minister to Students. This position excites me because it represents the work of change and full support of youth and young adults. I cannot wait to see the ministry we can accomplish together for and with the students of UCC and TCU."
UCC is excited to announce that Rev. Alison Fitzgerald is joining the staff as our new Minister to Students. In that position, Alison will be the point person for our ministry to youth from sixth grade through college. While attending Brite Divinity School from 2012-2016, Alison served UCC as an Assistant Minister working with middle school and later high school youth. After completing her Master of Divinity studies and ordination, she has been serving as Associate Minister of Children, Youth, and Families at Ankeny Christian Church near Des Moines.

UCC Leadership Puts Your Safety First
Last week, UCC had their Emergency Facility Plan Meeting and went over all of the most up-to-date standard responses to various emergency scenarios that may occur at University Christian Church. The goal is to have Ministers, Staff, Teachers and All Leaders familiar with the plan in an effort to minimize confusion and delays when an actual emergency occurs.
There will be an Emergency Facility Plan Meeting exclusively for Ushers and Greeters on Sunday, June 5. (Details coming soon.)

Celebrate May Birthdays with Us at Fortress!
On Thursday, May 19, our partners at Fortress Youth Development Center have asked us to help throw monthly birthday parties for their students. For many students, this is their only birthday celebration. You can help share God’s joy and love by giving 2 hours of your time (3:30-5:30pm).
Volunteers are needed (high school age & up) to help set-up for the parties, pass out treats, help create a celebratory atmosphere, and clean-up after the festivities.
For more information, contact Mary Nell Andrus at jmnandrus@gmail.com

Your Journey Begins with UCC & You
Join us in Room 207 on May 15 from 12:00pm-2:00pm
Maybe you’re brand-new to UCC. Or perhaps you’ve attended a service here for years and are looking to take the next step. Either way, UCC & You is a can’t-miss, in-person seminar and lunch designed to answer your questions, share our vision, and help you plug in.
It’s where you’ll learn about UCC’s history, the resources we have to support you, and how you can find the one ministry (or five) that you’re really passionate about.
