We were honored to have Executive Director of Sexual Minorities Uganda (SMUG), human rights champion, and anti-violence advocate, Frank Mugisha, PhD, as our Closing Plenary Speaker at UC Global Health Day. Recently, Dr. Mugisha was recognized as one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People.

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)-funded SHINE Strong program is the first training and mentoring program for undergraduate students committed to cultivating the next generation of HIV behavioral scientists with expertise in trans population health. Meet two of SHINE Strong's 2023-2024 Scholars from UC Berkeley and UC Santa Cruz!
Applications for the GloCal Health Fellowship are now open! GloCal supports awarded fellows from all 10 UC campuses as well as 22 affiliated sites across 18 countries.
Dr. Federico Castillo, Summer Work Experience Program Fellow, Moncerrat Hernandez (UCB), and team are working to grow Planetary Health's footprint in Latin America through the project, "UC-Mexico Farm Labor Research Cluster."
Dr. Sean Arayasirikul was awarded $166,418 from NIH to work with CGHJ leadership to create short courses designed to advance gender and health justice research and education.
HEAL proudly launched a Spanish language HEAL cohort in rural Mexico. This initiative aligns with HEAL's commitment to bridging gaps for health workers in remote areas, who face many challenges.

The UC Center for Climate, Health and Equity has teamed up with the American Medical Association (AMA) to create a set of FREE online educational materials for health professionals about the intersection of climate change and health.
CUGH members are invited to apply to join one of several committees and subcommittees that are seeking new members to serve two-year terms that involve less than 3 hours of work per month. Apply by June 30th.
