Professor Baradaran’s book, “The Color of Money: Black Banks and the Racial Wealth Gap” (Harvard University Press, 2017), was cited 15 times in Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson’s dissent in the U.S. Supreme Court case ending affirmative action, issued June 29, 2023.


UCI Law and the UCI Campuswide Honors Collegium (CHC) announce a dynamic, two-part collaboration to offer CHC students access to an accelerated Bachelors/Juris Doctor degree program at UCI Law, and scholarship funds.

Erin Black (’23) has been selected to receive the Alumni Racial Equity Fellowship. Black will embark on a public interest law career at UNITE HERE Local 11, where she will help build the collective power of hospitality workers, many of whom are immigrants and women of color.

The Orange County Asian American Bar Association (OCAABA) awards this memorial scholarship to recognize outstanding law students who have the potential to be future leaders in the legal profession in the Orange County community.

Nineteen UCI students officially started their seven-week, full-time, paid summer internships with labor organizations throughout Orange County on June 26. The UCI Labor Center is a partnership between UCI School of Social Ecology and UCI Law, which will provide timely labor research, educate the next generation of labor and community leaders, and advance workers’ rights initiatives.

Forty undergraduate students interested in law school joined our 2023 POP summer session. Over the 13 years of the program, POP has inspired more than 500 undergraduate students from disadvantaged backgrounds, helped prepare them for the demands of law school, and advised the students about legal careers in a wide array of fields.
Q&A With Tiffany Yim '18 

Tiffany Yim, Counsel at Isuzu North America Corporation, advises on a variety of corporate, contract, and employment law matters. Prior to joining Isuzu, Tiffany graduated from UCI Law in 2018 and represented employers in litigation.  
Q: How did UCI Law prepare you for your legal practice? 
UCI law’s wide array of courses gave me a solid foundation for my current legal practice. When I was in law school, I hadn’t yet decided what type of law I wanted to practice so I took a variety of courses that interested me. When I was job hunting, I found that the foundation UCI Law provided allowed me to apply for positions in all sectors.

Q: What do you like best about your work? 
Working in-house, I appreciate the opportunity to work collaboratively with “opposing counsel.” Unlike litigation, which can sometimes feel zero-sum, working in-house is almost always collaborative with legal counsel from other companies or with business units within our company. It's helpful to all have the same goal.

Q: What was the best part about being a student at UCI Law? 
The best part about being a student at UCI Law is the personal and professional connections that you make. The school provides so many opportunities to find and be a mentor, and those relationships develop over the years into deep friendships.

Q: How do you stay involved with the UCI Law community? 
I stay involved with the UCI Law community by keeping in touch with fellow alumni around the country, virtually and in-person. In particular, I’m really looking forward to the upcoming class of 2018 reunion in September, to see how everyone has been and how our careers have taken shape.

UCI and UCI Law alumni gathered for the UCI Anteaters in Law (AIL) "Laws and Libations" events throughout the month of June. Receptions were held in Century City, Orange County (in collaboration with the UCI Engineering Alumni Society), and in downtown Los Angeles in partnership with the UCI Law Alumni Association.
