UCPS names 2020-2021 Beginning Teacher of the Year

Kimberly Robinson has one year of teaching under her belt, however, colleagues at Monroe High regard her with awe for her devotion to her students, and passion for teaching. The English teacher is such a stand out that she has been named the 2020-2021 Union County Public Schools Beginning Teacher of the Year.

Board of Education Update

At its Sept. 22 Special Called meeting, the Union County Board of Education met to discuss Plan A, Plan B and Plan D.

The presentation includes information about updated health and safety guidelines.

In an 8-1 vote, the Board approved recommendations from the Superintendent.

UCPS rolls out buses to help students access Wi-Fi during remote learning

Union County Public Schools recognizes that some students have challenges with unreliable Wi-Fi during remote learning. As part of ongoing efforts to make sure students are able to work in a remote environment, UCPS is parking 15 buses in the following Monroe neighborhoods.

Western Union Elementary wins grant to bring solar educational projects to students

If Kristi Williford has her way, her school will be unique among Union County Public Schools (UCPS). Williford, principal of Western Union Elementary, is on a mission to make it the only school in UCPS with a solar panel.

Williford and teachers are working to add more environmental education to Western Union Elementary.
