Biannual UCR Awareness Initiative Jan. 12-18, 2025

The UCR Enforcement Subcommittee is asking enforcement partners to participate in the biannual ‎UCR Awareness Initiative, which will be conducted January 12-18, and June 15-21, 2025.To participate, ‎please contact us via email. Those ‎participating will not be required to collect data or track activity.‎ Get full details on the UCR website.

UCR Auto-Renew Program

In the first year of UCR’s auto-renew program over 21,000 carriers signed up to have their 2025 registration automatically renewed by the NRS. These carriers receive emails to remind them of the upcoming automatic registration. These registrations will all be done with option A and use the number of power units on their most current MCS-150 form. Payment will be automatically completed through the credit card the carrier authorized on the NRS during their 2024 registration. Inspector Recognition

The inspectors who noted the most UCR violations were Officer Scott Grimm and Officer Chris Burns, from the Illinois Commerce Commission Police who both issued 17 violations. 

The Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) Enforcement Subcommittee is pleased to announce the recognition of the inspector who issues the highest number of UCR violations each month. An annual award will be presented to the inspector with the most cumulative violations over the year. The mission of the UCR Enforcement Subcommittee is to increase UCR enforcement, standardize enforcement practices, support enforcement agencies, and provide education and training resources. 2025 UCR Registration and Enforcement

Approved 2025 fees are available for your reference. The 2025 Registration Portal through the NRS opened October 1, 2024. Per UCR Plan Board policy, states are encouraged to begin enforcement of the 2025 UCR Registration Year on January 1, 2025.

The Connecticut Department of Transporation has announced a $31 million investment in expanding truck parking at rest stops in the state. Five rest areas will get 183 new spaces.

Trade and tariff concerns are roiling an already volatile market and pushing up prices for shipping containers in North America, a ne report says. The region saw a 20% spike in average container prices over the past 90 days.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration plans to study how drivers react to crash avoidance technology. In a notice in the Federal Register NHTSA said, “The objective of this driving research is to examine driver behavior in using crash avoidance warning systems and assess effects of human-machine interface characteristics on drivers’ behavior and driver response in crash-imminent scenarios.
