December 2020
With the elections over, joyful holidays here, and a vaccine near, I am hopeful that recent challenging and overwhelming times are ending. Let's CELEBRATE how so many caring, honest, and sincere people in our community give, serve, work and lead together helping those who struggle. Thank you for your dedicated and generous support for our programs, projects, and people. Through this time of COVID-19, UCS continues to be a Community of Caring for everyone. We have a 2020 matching campaign and a capital campaign near their goals. Giving Tuesday is here and 2021 is going to be a blessed year! Read more below.
Sincerely,
Jason Emmerson

Support the Clean and Caring Capital Campaign
|
|
United Caring Services is participating in Giving Tuesday to share the importance and impact of its Clean and Caring Capital Campaign that is raising money to renovate our Day Shelter’s 25-year-old restrooms and showers. Our Day Shelter (drop-in center) provides many vital relief and restoration services, in partnership and collaboration with other local homeless service agencies, for people in our community.
Our Day Shelter is an essential, front-line program that serves more than 150 people every day. Thanks to the amazing support by forty individual donors and faith communities as well as the recent grant awards, we are only $5,000 away from our goal! If you miss Giving Tuesday, do not worry. Our Giving Tuesday campaign continues until December 5.
"Everyone deserves a clean, reliable, and safe place to go to address their basic needs."
Today on GivingTuesday, will you help us meet this goal so people can feel clean, be healthy, and live with dignity?

White Flag 2020 - 2021
White flag is at CK Newsome Center this winter to provide the safe physical distancing needed during COVID-19. Given the average and peak numbers served last year and the impact of the pandemic, UCS is unable to utilize its Day Shelter for the program this year.
We'd like to thank the Pigeon Township Trustees Office, Mayor Lloyd Winnecke (for making the CK Newsome Center available), Timothy Weir with the Commission on Homelessness, Brian Holtz who is Director of the Evv Parks Department, the many diligent UCS Care Team Leaders and Members, and our wider community of advocates, donors, agencies and staff for making White Flag possible for people experiencing homelessness -- keeping them safe, warm, and alive during inclement weather. Fewer things are more basic and also so very important. Thank you.

Clean & Caring Capital Campaign
Day Shelter Restroom Renovation Project
UPDATE: We only need $5,000 to reach our goal!
What is the Clean & Caring Campaign? We are seeking to raise $40,000 to support the renovation and improvement of our Day Shelter’s restrooms and showers. They are almost 25 years old and are deteriorating, unsafe, and unsustainable. Learn more about and support for the project HERE. Giving Tuesday donations support this project
The estimated cost of the total project is around $126,500 and we are 87% of the way there thanks to support from our generous mission partners -- individuals, families, businesses, faith communities, foundations and grant providers.
Campaign funds raised above $40,000 will help improve the quality of the equipment and facility even more. Thank you for your generosity.
