Dr. Lori Weichenthal
was awarded the Fresno Madera Medical Society's 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Weichenthal is credited with being a pioneer in the department since she was a resident at UCSF Fresno. She was the first female leader in the UCSF Fresno emergency medicine department as an associate program director, is currently the associate dean of graduate medical education for UCSF Fresno, and helped create the department's wilderness medicine fellowship.

Dr. Lily Hitchner
was awarded a grant via the UCSF Innovations Funding for Education 2020 to study interprofessional feedback during critical event debriefing sessions. The program supports development of new curricular elements, focused faculty development undertakings, comparison of pedagogical approaches, and innovative approaches to learner assessment. Open to all faculty, these intramural grants serve as a catalyst for the development of curriculum that addresses the constantly changing ways in which physicians practice medicine.

, was awarded the Society of Emergency Medicine Physician Assistants EMPA of the Year Award for demonstrating exceptional service and leadership in emergency medicine, the PA profession, and community.

Dr. Rais Vohra
was appointed Interim Health Officer for the Fresno County Department of Public Health by the Fresno County Board of Supervisors. We are proud of Dr. Vohra and look forward to strengthening the educational opportunities available to residents and fellows in areas related to public health and community outreach under his leadership.

was elected to serve as a Counselor for the Young Physicians Section of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (YPS-AAEM).

The UCSF Fresno Academic Research Associate Program students partnered with the Fresno State Pre-Med Club to donate masks for the Fresno ED. Students worked hard over their spring break to sew 300 masks that were donated along with 200 disposable masks. This donation of time and resources is greatly appreciated and reinforces their ties to this program.

Virginia Coningsby joined the UCSF Fresno EM department, effective March 9, as the department manager. Virginia has been with UCSF Fresno for eight years, covering the areas of faculty support, CME activities, undergraduate medical education and most recently graduate medical education. Outside of work, Virginia enjoys hiking, kayaking, traveling and volunteering for local nonprofit organizations.
