Population Health and
Health Equity at UCSF
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the population perspective is more important than ever, as is focused attention on inequities in health and health care.

Our Population Health and Health Equity newsletter features resources, stories, and news that help all of us engage in population health and health equity. This edition features:

  • The new UCSF Health Atlas that uses data to explore social, environmental, and healthcare determinants of health. COVID cases are on the health atlas and updated daily.


Several other  groups  on campus are working to  disseminate COVID-19 resources to   at-risk  populations. Please check out the resources below and stay tuned for future stories on these efforts:

Vouchers 4 Veggies Program
Vouchers 4 Veggies (V4V) is a healthy food voucher program embedded in underserved communities that allows low-income individuals to purchase fruits and vegetables at partnering retailers, including large grocers, corner stores, and farmers markets.

The V4V program is working hard to address increased needs by getting vouchers to those most susceptible to COVID-19, especially to reduce the need for individuals to leave their homes.

Engage a resident or student in your racial justice or health equity projects
The HEAR Justice (Health Equity & Racial Justice) GME Pathway is a new opportunity for residents, fellows and medical students interested in applying an anti racist lens to healthcare.
 
The Pathway requires that learners attend a 5 day discussion-based didactic course (October 5-9th) and participate in ongoing reflection activities. We are looking for faculty mentors and projects for learners. If you have ideas for projects, are working on a project and would like to work with a learner, or if you just want to learn more, please contact   Jyothi Marbin, MD ( Jyothi.Marbin@ucsf.edu ).
We are pleased to share our new website, the UCSF Health Atlas

Health Atlas currently features data-driven stories on COVID-19, food and housing insecurity, and cancer in Latinx communities. Users can select different characteristics, create custom areas to learn about specific geographies of interest, or compare multiple scenarios at once.
