Schaefer demonstrates Power BI techniques

UCSF team member, Petra Schaefer, demonstrates Power BI techniques to the team from Pakistan, with facilitators from Egypt joining in.

UCSF’s Global Health Security team co-organized an impactful 5-day Data Science for Epidemic Intelligence Regional Workshop in Amman, Jordan. Together with experts from MENA countries, they focused on building advanced skills in R and Power BI, enhancing data science capacity for respiratory and event-based surveillance, and fostering a strong community of practice.

Lancet Commission Publishes New Report on Global Health 

The Lancet Commission on Investing in Health has published its third report, Global Heath 2050, which provides a roadmap to halving premature deaths globally by mid-century. Dean Jamison, PhD, MS, Richard Feachem, PhD, DSc, KBE, and Neelam Sekhri Feachem, MS, serve as commissioners.

Health and Human Rights Initiative Aids Refugee Mental Health

HHRI received a four-year sub-award from the Office of Refugee Resettlement for the Support for Trauma-Affected Refugees (STAR) Program, which supports medical providers in aiding refugees’ health.

Center for Tuberculosis to Develop Global TB Framework

Priya Shete, MD, MPH, Andrew Kerkhoff, MD, PhD, MS, and team received a two-year contract with Johnson & Johnson to develop a Global Framework to Enhance Demand, Access, and Seeking of TB-related Health Services (TB-DASH).

Cohen and Hemmerling Receive Grant for HIV Prevention Trial

Craig Cohen, MD, MPH, and Anke Hemmerling, MD, PhD, MPH, received a U01 grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases to conduct a first-in-human trial of genetically modified Lactobacillus jensenii (MucoCept) for the prevention of female HIV acquisition.
