UCWDC Country Dance World Championships Qualifiers Update

Hello Dancers!

This is a challenging Dance Season for all of us. We hope all of you are dancing this year wherever you can do so safely! We are incredibly happy that we can offer the Country Dance World Championships (Worlds)in January 2022, in Orlando, Florida. As many of you already know, the UCWDC reduced the number of events needed to be eligible for the Country Dance World Championships earlier this year. As the year has progressed, we have continued to monitor the situation around the world. Unfortunately, in many countries, our Regional Events have not been able to return this year. Because of this, we are modifying our eligibility requirements further. For 2021 only, any country that does not have a regional event held this Dance Season (2021) will not be required to attend any regional events to be eligible for the World Championships in January, 2022. Please, if possible, support those events that can be held. As we know, every region is different, and we hope all of you keep dancing!

Dance Order Update Reminder

In the interest of providing the safest possible dance environment, the Rules Committee of the United Country Western Dance Council announced a change to the ProAm, ProPro and Couples dance order for the 2021 Dance Season which will include the Country Dance World Championships in January, 2022. Getting the Results You Want on the Competition Floor! (Part 1)

Footwork is the foundation of all good dancing! Please take the time to be sure your footwork is correct so that many other aspects of your dancing will have the possibility of being fabulous! As you move up through the various levels, judges will require greater consistency of footwork. Footwork includes how your strike the floor and transfer your weight. This differs from dance to dance and is dependent on the type of movement. Take the time to be sure you understand what the judges are looking for.

Proper posture is the base for all good things on and off the dance floor. On the dance floor, good posture projects a sense of confidence that can be visually seen. Good posture affords the dancer the possibility of moving through space effortlessly provided other essential elements are present.

Line Dance Survey for the 2022 Dance Year

We would like all competitive line dancer's opinions on the following topic: With the current issues surrounding the pandemic and lack of a full competition season, what is your opinion on changing the classic line dances? Please bear in mind that every region has different issues to contend with. For example Asia & South Africa may have only 1 event or none, Europe may have two events or none, meaning dancers will not have the opportunity to compete the current dances at all. Also, we are unsure if worldwide travel restrictions will be lifted in time for Worlds. With that in mind, please vote for one of the following:

1. If there is not a full dance season, change all the dances for next season

2. If there is not a full dance season, don't change any dances for next season

3. If there is 1/2 a dance season, change 1/2 the dances for the next season

4. If there is only a partial dance season of in person events and worlds, keep dances but change some music tracks for the next season
