Associate Nursing grads honored with Pinning Ceremony
Graduates of UDC Community College’s Associate of Applied Sciences in Nursing (AASN) Program were honored on December 13 during a Nursing Education Pinning Ceremony on the Lamond-Riggs Campus. Three of the graduates will be matriculating into the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program at UDC’s College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences (CAUSES). Read More

UDC recognizes partners and student excellence with DAWN STEMS-Giving Celebration
The University of the District of Columbia and Anacostia High School hosted a DAWN STEMS-Giving event on December 14 to highlight the work of Anacostia High School students in the DAWN program and pay tribute to DAWN community partners. The mission of UDC’s Developing America’s Workforce Nucleus (DAWN) initiative is to create a sustainable pipeline of domestic, diverse, business-ready STEM and entrepreneurship-ready talent, at all levels of the workforce, to propel America’s economic engine into the future. Alumnus Oji Ofong creates app to make gift giving easier
Oji Ofong has found his calling connecting people to opportunities and resources, whether it is by improving e-commerce to help people make purchases more efficiently or helping students on campus. A proud computer science graduate from UDC, Ofong is using his training and life experiences to create his app, Payforme. Ofong has enjoyed a successful tech career, working at companies including AOL Inc., CoStar Group, Virtru Inc., and, most recently, Google. Read More

Update on Proposed FY25 Budget and Financial Plan and Capital Budget Request
The University of the District of Columbia (UDC) would like to share an update regarding our proposed FY 2025 Budget and Financial Plan and Capital Budget Request, which was approved by the UDC Board of Trustees on November 7, 2023. The Board of Trustees is required to submit to the DC Mayor a budget and proposed financial operating plan for each fiscal year, as well as a capital and educational improvements plan for that fiscal year and the four fiscal years that follow. Professor selected to participate in research seminar in Dakar, Senegal
Dr. Sandra Jowers-Barber, Ph.D., director of the Division of Humanities and Criminology at UDC’s Community College and a historian, was selected to take part in a two-week research seminar in Dakar, Senegal, on January 3-21, 2024. The CAORC-WARC 2024 Faculty Development Seminar is a highly competitive program administered by the Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC) in collaboration with the West African Research Center (WARC). It will include visits to Goree Island, Toubacouta and Saint-Louis, among other locations. Read More
