Help shape Winnipeg's Zoning rules - take the survey or attend a virtual open house

The City of Winnipeg is updating Winnipeg’s zoning by-law. Zoning shapes our neighbourhoods — how buildings look, where shops go, and how streets and public spaces feel.

Your input will help shape a new, city-wide zoning by-law.

Share your thoughts on:

  • What matters most when new development happens in your neighbourhood
  • Your experience with the current zoning by-law (what’s easy and what’s challenging)
  • Your ideas for how zoning could be improved

You can share your input by CLICKING HERE to take the survey by June 5th, or attending an event below.

Hot Water for Handwashing Required at Large Construction Sites

Manitoba has introduced an important update to the Workplace Safety and Health Regulation that will impact many construction projects across the province. Beginning April 1, 2027, select large construction sites will be required to provide hot water for handwashing.

This change is aimed at improving worker health, hygiene, and overall site conditions, while also creating greater consistency across the industry.

What’s Changing?

Under the updated regulation, employers and prime contractors must ensure that hot water is available for handwashing at certain construction sites. This requirement applies to industrial, commercial, and institutional projects that meet all of the following criteria:

  • The building is greater than 600 square metres or more than three storeys in height, AND
  • There are more than 25 workers on site, or that number is expected at any point during the project

This means planning for hot water is no longer optional - it must be built into project logistics from the outset.
