Apply to Join Milwaukee’s Zoning & Engagement Community Committee (ZECC)

The City of Milwaukee’s Department of City Development is seeking 20–30 community members to serve on the Zoning & Engagement Community Committee as the City updates its Housing Zoning Code. No zoning experience needed. Committee members will attend three meetings in 2026 and receive an honorarium for their participation. Apply by December 4, 2025. Questions? Assembly Approves New Housing Bills; Senate Action Still Pending The Wisconsin Assembly has passed a package of GOP-backed housing bills aimed at expanding affordable housing statewide. Proposals include allowing more Accessory Dwelling Units, creating a zero-interest “starter home” loan program, offering grants for condo conversions, and easing building code requirements for projects already in progress. UWM mapped Milwaukee's racially restricted covenants. What's the history behind your address? University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee researchers, with help from 6,000+ volunteers, have mapped over 32,000 racially restrictive housing covenants across Milwaukee County.
