Community Seeks Gold Standard for Bicycling in the Villages

 

The University of Florida is part of a consortium of architectural and public health institutions, spearheaded by the American Institute of Architects (AIA), which will help fund basic research on how design affects public health. The AIA Design & Health Research Consortium, as it is named, was created by the AIA, along with the AIA Foundation and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) on December 15, 2014. UFTI's Dr. Juan Gilbert Leads Nation's 1st Brain-Drone Race

   
From New York Times to CNET, news outlets across the U.S. were abuzz when brain-controlled drones raced last month. What is being called the nation's 1st "Brain-Drone Race" was held at the University of Florida on April 16, 2016, with UFTI affiliate. Professor Juan Gilbert, chairman of the Computer and Information Science and Engineering Department at the University of Florida, was doing research on Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCI)... Graduation Spotlight: Larry Dorilus Receives Master's Degree

   
A few months ago, we spotlighted one of our master's students, Larry Dorilus. Now we are saying a bittersweet goodbye to him as he graduates this spring, but the Gator Nation will never be far off his mind.

"There are two kinds of people in this world," he explained. "Florida Gators and those that wish they were Florida Gators!"

Doctoral Candidate Spotlight: Yinan Zheng, Ph.D.

   
This upcoming summer graduation we will be saying goodbye to Yinan Zheng, who will be graduating with her Ph.D. in civil engineering. Zheng's friendly and radiant personality will certainly be missed by faculty and fellow students. Zheng has been a great student, skillfully balancing her graduate studies and research with extra-curricular activities such as serving as website chair in the WTS Advancing Women in Transportation... Meet the 2016 UF Transportation Research Interns!

This year, three students from the University of Florida were accepted into the STRIDE Center's Transportation Research Internship Program. Two of them will be working with UFTI-affiliated faculty, post-docs and graduate students on transportation-related research. The third student will be working at another university within the STRIDE consortium. In addition, a fourth student from Arizona State University who was admitted to the program will be joining UFTI-affiliated faculty in research as well. Check out more about these students...
