Gainesville to Deploy Zero-Emission Electric Buses
The Center for Transportation and the Environment (CTE) is working with the Gainesville Regional Transit System (RTS) in Gainesville, Fla., to deploy two 40-foot GILLIG battery electric buses and two ChargePoint charging stations. The goal for deploying the new electric buses are to reduce emissions and encourage sustainability in Gainesville. The zero-emission buses will replace older diesel buses currently in use in the City of Gainesville and surrounding communities. The new buses are expected to enter service in 2020. The project was made possible by the funding of the Low-No Grant program through the Federal Transit Administration (FTA).
