The GatorITE Chapter won several awards at the Annual FSITE Meeting in Coral Springs, Florida. These awards included the Best Student Chapter Award, the Bill McGrath Scholaraship Award, 1st Place for the Research and Shark Tank Award, and the Put a Break on Fatalities Social Media Contest.

Congratulations to Sagar Patni for receiving the Glenn and Deborah Renwick Engineering Scholarship. Sagar is currently pursuing his master's in civil engineering under his faculty mentor, Dr. Lily Elefteriadou. He has previously worked as a consultant for the ‘Smart City’ initiative of the Government of India, where he analyzed the public transportation system and needs of a growing population. The Glenn and Deborah Renwick Engineering Scholarship is awarded to outstanding master’s students who demonstrate a strong background in academics and research.

GatorITE and WTS are hosting a seminar withTraffic Technology Services (TTS) on Nov. 16, 2018 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m in the Reitz Union Room G325. In addition to the presentation, there will be an Audi Drive Demo, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., to demonstrate its connectivity capabilities and how the vehicle communicates with Gainesville traffic signals to inform the driver when traffic lights will change. This year’s UTC Conference was hosted by the Center for Connected Multimodal Mobility (C2M2) at Clemson University, which attracted students, faculty, staff, state DOT representatives, and other transportation professionals in the southeast region. The STRIDE Center was one of the co-sponsors of this event, and several students, faculty and staff representing the Center were in attendance.
