Dr. Lily Elefteriadou Receives the ARTBA 2020 S.S. Steinberg Award
Dr. Lily Elefteriadou, professor and director of the UFTI, was honored with the S.S. Steinberg Award via a virtual ceremony on January 19th hosted by the American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA). This award is given to individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to transportation education.

Yiming Xu Applies Machine Learning to Explore the Role of Micromobility in Reducing Traffic Congestion
Micromobility such as e-scooters and dockless bicycles have gained popularity in recent years with most of these lightweight devices appearing in and around downtown areas. Micromobility has the potential to complement public transit and relieve traffic congestion. Doctoral student Yiming Xu is using raw data and machine learning to analyze the impact of micromobility on the existing transportation system and its potential for mitigating congestion. Read more.

Isabelle Wandenkolk Works with Rural Veterans to Understand Perceptions, Acceptance of Autonomous Vehicles
Isabelle Wandenkolk is a doctoral student in the UF Department of Occupational Therapy. She is working on a project that is trying to understand the challenges that Veterans living in rural areas face when accessing health care and other services. Understanding the perceptions of rural Veterans as they relate to the acceptance and adoption of automated vehicle (AV) technology will be key to the optimal societal integration of mobility-vulnerable Veterans.
