Dr. Lily Elefteriadou presents at the UTC spotlight conference using a rubix cube.
The University Transportation Centers (UTC) hosted a Spotlight Conference in Washington, D.C. to showcase the research, education and technology transfer activities supported by grant-funded UTCs and other transportation centers in the U.S.
Dr. Lily Elefteriadou, director of the UFTI and the STRIDE Center , was the conference chair working along with the American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA), the Council of University Transportation Centers (CUTC) and the Research, Education and Training Reauthorization Coalition (RETRC), to organize the event. This was the first event of its kind, scheduled to coincide with Infrastructure Week.
The conference, which was held on May 14, 2019, in Washington, D.C., consisted of poster sessions and panel discussions where Congressional staff and their guests exchanged information with UTC directors and others regarding on-going research and education efforts, and the future of transportation. A total of 25 posters showcasing the work of UTC’s across the U.S. were on display in the U.S. Senate and in the U.S. House of Representatives. The event was attended by Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Oregon) who spoke about transportation infrastructure, funding and new technologies.
