International Day of Women and Girls in Science
In celebration of International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we are featuring some of the UFTI's female faculty and students for their contributions to science.
As part of the celebrations related to International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the Engineering School of Sustainable Infrastructure & Engineering (ESSIE) and the UF Transportation Institute invited distinguished lecturer Dr. Pat Mokhtarian on Monday, February 10th to talk about Pursuing the "Impossible" Dream: Incorporating Attitudes into Regional Transportation Model .

Dr. Mokhtarian is the Susan G. and Christopher D. Pappas Professor and Group Coordinator of the Transportation Systems Engineering Smart Cities, Sustainable Communities at the Georgia Tech School of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
The WTS Florida Gator Student Chapter held their 10th Annual Symposium on the Role of Transportation Affecting Climate Change . The Symposium was held on Tuesday, February 11 in the Reitz Union on the University of Florida Campus.

Feb. 12 at 12:00 p.m. EST:  Dr. Lily Elefteriadou will present a seminar, Optimizing Traffic Signal Control with Connected and Autonomous Vehicles in the Traffic Stream .

The seminar will take place at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering, Department of Civil and Urban Engineering, C2SMART Lab, 15 Metrotech Ctr. 6W-23, Brooklyn, NY 11201.

Feb. 20 at 3:30 p.m.:  Dr. Nicholas Evans - Assistant Professor, Department of Philosophy, UMass Lowell - will give a presentation titled Modeling Ethical Algorithms in Autonomous Vehicles Using Crash Data in New Engineering Building (NEB) 100.

Dr. Evans' visit is hosted by the UFTI and the UF Department of Philosophy.


Feb. 21 at 4:00 p.m.:  Dr. Evans will give a presentation titled Distributive Justice and Autonomous Vehicles in Philosophy Library, 303 Griffin Floyd Hall.

Feb. 26 - 27:  Florida Occupant Protection Coalition Meeting in Gainesville, FL

March 10 at 10 a.m.:  Join GatorITE for a seminar with Dr. Louis Merlin, Assistant Professor at Florida Atlantic University and co-author of the recently released book From Mobility to Accessibility .

March 26 - 27:  The 7th Annual UTC Conference for the Southeastern Region will be held at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida.

STRIDE will be hosting a K-12 Workshop at the UTC Conference on Thursday, March 26. The session will focus on on  Issues Related to K-12 Outreach . If you would like more information on the session, please contact Ondine Wells at  [email protected]
