|
McTrans Center will host a Virtual Exhibit Booth at TRB 2021. The McTrans team will be available to meet attendees during the event's “live hours” and will showcase the latest developments of products such as the Highway Capacity Software, Highway Safety Software, and training courses. In addition, all content will be accessible to meeting registrants on a 24‐hour basis for the 30‐day period from January 21 to February 19, 2021. Meeting registrants may view any documents or videos in the booth and can leave business cards or messages.

Transoft Solutions Scholarship for Undergraduate Students in Transportation
|
Congratulations to Jeanine Marrou and Tia Lubbers for receiving the Transoft Solutions Scholarship for Undergraduate Students in Transportation. Both students were honored during an online event on Zoom on December 10, 2020. The Transoft Scholarship is awarded to junior or senior civil engineering students specializing in transportation. The UFTI wishes to thank Milton Carrasco, President & CEO of Transoft Solutions for his generosity in funding this award.

This award recognizes senior researchers or educators for significant contributions in the field of cloud computing.

UF Researchers Create Plan to Support Real-Time Management of Traffic Operations
|
Dr. Ilir Bejleri of the UF Department of Urban & Regional Planning evaluated traffic and incident data and conducted a review of incident response management practices in Florida to establish a real-time, intra-information sharing system for incident response. Integrating incident response systems could have life-saving implications and reduce crash-related congestion. See the full report.

UFTI affiliate Dr. Masoud Gheisari of the UF Rinker School of Construction Management is guest editing an education-related special issue for the Journal of Advanced Engineering Informatics that focuses on emerging learning technology research and methods in engineering education for higher education. This is a call for papers for authors interested in advancing new concepts, experiments, case studies, methodologies, and best practices to foster and assess education and re-skilling through technology-rich learning environments. Interstate Transit Research Symposium: Recorded Sessions & PDFs of Presentations Now Available
|
The Interstate Transit Symposium, a free, online event which took place December 2-4, 2020, brought together transit experts to discuss the latest in public transportation research in the United States. More than 500 people registered for the event. The event included talks and panels discussion on important transit-related topics such as transit finance, racial justice, mobility and modality, technology and zero-emission vehicles in transit, and COVID-19.
