Upcoming STRIDE Webinar: Comparing Transit Agency Peer Groups Using Cluster Analysis Webinar
The  STRIDE Center will be hosting a webinar on June 12, 2019 at 12 p.m. ET on “Comparing Transit Agency Peer Groups using Cluster Analysis”. The speaker is Dr. Kari Watkins of the Georgia Institute of Technology. The webinar is related to Dr. Watkins' STRIDE-funded project on “Transit in the Era of Shared Mobility”. She will be discussing the clustering of metropolitan areas that operate transit service into groups on a set of variables that affect ridership but are outside of agencies’ control and how ridership trends can be analyzed in a more meaningful way.

Alumni Highlight: Abi Komma
Abi Komma graduated from the UFTI with a Masters of Science in Transportation Engineering in August 2008. Komma is currently employed as a senior data scientist on the Computer Vision Platform team at Uber in San Francisco. The team is responsible for developing core computer vision capabilities such as text recognition, image classification, object detection that will be used by different teams across Uber. During Dr. Komma's graduate education, Dr. Siva Srinivasan was his faculty adviser. In 2009, Komma won the Wootan Award for his master's thesis titled "Continuous Departure-time Choice Models for Home-to-Work Commute," where he modeled the departure time choice behavior of commuters who were traveling from home to work location. The award was presented at the 12th Anniversary CUTC Awards Banquet held during the 88th Annual Transportation Research Board Meeting in Washington D.C. on January 10, 2009.
