Update on Medicaid Expansion
While we continue to advocate against the harms of SB96's waivers and encourage the legislature to implement the best and most efficient Medicaid expansion for Utah, we were happy to hear the Department of Health's most recent numbers on Medicaid expansion enrollment.

Approximately 29,000 TOTAL enrolled
-Approximately 7,000 NEWLY enrolled!
-14,222 immediately transferred from Primary Care Network (PCN) to Medicaid
-4,106 Targeted Adult Medicaid (TAM)
-3,295 HB437 Health Care Revisions bill that passed in 2016 - this number represents parents
-607 Other programs

We would love to see this number continue to grow and reach the 70,000 of Utahns that are projected to be eligible NOW! Please continue to spread the word!

A Tribute to Robert Pear
Early last week Robert Pear passed away unexpectedly. UHPP was lucky enough to have worked with him for several weeks last year during the Proposition 3 campaign. All of us were so impressed by the remarkable reporting that came from his time spent with us in Utah.

Robert Pear contributed over 6,700 times to the New York Times during his career and was devoted to reporting health care news. We are saddened by this loss and offer our best wishes to those in his life.
The picture to the left shows him at our fundraiser interviewing advocates. Throughout the night he interviewed many people, at times crouching on his knees for extended periods of time to scribble on his notepad (all the notes he took were with pen & paper).
