Despite having to reschedule the Spring Fling and Garden Tour & Vendor Fair due to weather concerns, so many of you still came out on Saturday to utilize the shredding services at the Community Center! The shredders calculated that University Hills shredded about 4,000 pounds of paper in about 4 hours - what a feat!
By recycling 4,000 pounds of paper, we saved approximately 34 trees, 14,000 gallons of water, 8,000+ kWh of energy, and about 6 cubic yards of landfill space. The energy estimate is also roughly enough to power an average U.S. home for about a year, since EPA says 1 ton of recycled paper saves enough energy to power the average home for six months. Well done, everyone!

Due to last year's success, we will have again Joey's E-Bike Repair Service (https://joeysmobilebikerepair.com/) setting up on he Community Center parking lot from 11:30 am to 2 pm. Please note that you'll need to pay for the service as you normally would, however, you have the convenience of not having to arrange an appointment. Joey can take care of more complicated bike repairs including e-bikes since he has more tools and parts on hand.
Pro-tip for any repairs, and especially bike repairs: Bring any parts that you already know that you might need (e.g., your bike's size inner tube or brake pads). Our repair folks do not carry any or minimal inventory; Joey has parts but based on my past experience he's also happy to install parts that you bring.

UCI Department of Drama Presents: At the Very Bottom of a Body of Water
Marina swims in a circle of routine every week — she goes to the local fish store, buys a catfish, and makes soup. But this week, her usual fishmonger has disappeared and the comfort of ritual has been destroyed. But does destruction only mean pain and suffering, or could it also mean the possibility for new and grander experiences? Through surreal storytelling and dreamlike sequences, this piece delves into themes of grief, spiritual disconnection, and the enduring ties of family. Engage in an intimate, atmospheric and subtle emotional exploration with Marina as she reconstructs a deconstructed life.
Sunday, May 31, 2026, 2 p.m.
