HELP US PLAN BETTER EVENTS — USE OUR EVENT RSVP BUTTONS

You may notice some new buttons and links on announcements for our larger community events. We have added an RSVP poll asking if residents plan to join a particular event. The volunteer buttons link to more detailed volunteer signup sheets for specific events. We encourage you to click on these elements to help us do a better job of planning, projecting, ordering and arranging our events moving forward. Thank you in advance for helping to build community!

The University Hills Sustainability Committee invites you to join a community-wide book discussion series. Our neighbor, Terry LePage, MDiv, PhD, has recently released an inspiring book, Eye of the Storm.
This book welcomes readers to face climate and social chaos with calm and courage. It includes interviews with people finding their way through the Deep Adaptation Forum, a movement that formed in response to the work of Jem Bendell
This book is so provocative, we recommend it for community-wide consideration.  Warning: this mature content is recommended for adult discussion before including children under 18.
We invite neighbors, Cool Block/Irvine participants, and anyone concerned about the state of our world and our future to join the conversation. We will discuss the book over three meetings with in-person discussions at the Community Center Media Room/Lounge.
Reading/Meeting schedule:
  • November 12, 4-6 pm: Chapters 1-3
  • December 3, 4-6 pm: Chapters 4-8
  • January 7, 4-6 pm: Chapters 9-14
In preparation, you can obtain copies here (in addition to the usual purchase options)
