Come Pick Up Free Mulch! 4 Convenient Locations in UHills!

Mulch is coming in time for your fall gardening! Again, thanks should be directed to Leonard Chaidez Tree Service, the HRB, and ICHA for gifting this fine material to the community. Chaidez has been pruning University Hills trees for over 25 years and making this high-quality mulch product.

The mulch is recycled landscape waste and tree leaves, branches and trunks. The material is first chipped and then aged, where it undergoes an intense heating and baking period that kills pathogens and pests. The heated and aged materials will make the one to two-inch texture finished product.

The mulch drop is being distributed to 4 convenient locations in University Hills for the safety and convenience the community - Garden Park, the Gabrielino Pool parking lot, the Community Center parking lot, and the Coltrane Pool parking lot. See map below for more information. First come, first served.

Why Use Mulch?

Mulch contains wood and green waste from tree trimming and landscaping, as well as reduces materials from landfill operations.

Using mulch:

  • Recycles green waste
  • Controls erosion
  • Retains moisture
  • Promotes the development of nutrient-rich soil, fungi, and beneficial insects
  • Looks beautiful
  • Keeps weeds at bay
