Dr. Ahmad Salehi's
research focuses on
Energy-efficient high-throughput VLSI circuits for deep learning and IoT applications, DNA computing and molecular programmingm, hardware-enabled cybersecurity and cryptography, low-cost fault-tolerant approximate computing systems and embedded systems and computer architectures.

Dr. Ishan Thakkar's
research broadly focuses on the design and optimization of advanced architectures and technologies for energy-efficient, reliable, and secure computing, for a wide scope of platforms including embedded systems, internet-of-things (IoT), and high-performance computing systems.

ECE Faculty Searches Underway
|
The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Kentucky is hiring four tenure-track faculty positions for the 2019-2020 academic year. Focus areas include Robotics, Autonomous Systems, Bio-electrical, and Sustainable Manufacturing. The new positions are part of the UK College of Engineering's initiative to hire 20 new faculty members in the coming year.

PEIK Student, Evan Jones receives IEEE National Scholarship
|
|
|
Evan Jones
, a UK engineering student was recently awarded the renewal of his annual IEEE scholarship from the Power & Energy Society Plus Initiative, a signature program of the IEEE Foundation. Evan’s IEEE scholarship was initially granted in 2017. This year, he is one of only 30 students in the entire Southeastern IEEE Region selected to receive such an award. The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) is headquartered in New York City and is the world’s largest association of technical professionals with more than 400,000 members.

ECE student Grant Cox spends summer at NASA Langley

Grant Cox,
a native of Campbellsville, Kentucky, and senior computer engineering major spent his summer interning at the NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC) in Hampton, Virginia, which happens to be the oldest of NASA’s field centers. Read more below about Grant’s experience with NASA.

UK Student Team Wins Bird Audio Detection Challenge
|

|
A team of ECE students
led by Dr. Mike Johnson received the award for “Highest-scoring open-source/reproducible method” for the Bird Audio
Detection Challenge task in the Detection and Classification of Acoustic Scenes and Events (DCASE) 2018 Challenge. The student team included graduate students Sidrah Liaqat, Narjes Bozorg, and Neene Jose and undergraduate student Patrick Conrey .
