University-Industry Engagement Advisor wrote a feature story on UK Innovate's UK Innovation Connect to check in on the progress made after marking its one-year anniversary.
Landon Borders, Executive Director of UK Innovation Connect, discussed the inaugural Kentucky Innovator Challenge on April 11, the work he and his team has done over the past year to connect faculty and industry partners and where UK Innovation Connect is heading.

Apple Watch App System to Monitor Bone Marrow
Transplant Patients
Ming-Yuan Chih, Ph.D., Yongwook Song, and Gerhard Hildebrandt
Developed at the University of Kentucky, this mobile and wearable system supports bone marrow transplant patients in their recovery journey. This support system aims to promote patients' physical activity, improve their communication with providers and boost their motivation for recovery. This app offers several services that meet the most important needs of patients and fills the void in the market.

MING-YUAN CHIH, PH.D.
College of Health Sciences
Dr. Chih joined the faculty of Human Health Sciences after receiving his doctoral degree in Industrial Engineering with a focus on Health Systems Engineering from University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has studied how information and communication technology may help patients and their family caregivers. He is interested in developing and implementing interventions that enable patients and their families to play a central role in the management and improvement of the patient’s health.
Dr. Chih developed the Apple watch app system to monitor bone marrow transplant patients with Yongwook Song and Gerhard Hildebrandt.
