We are CRAZY psyched to stock one of our all time faves from the late 80s UK ska explosion – MAROON TOWN’s debut album “HIGH & DRY” from 1990, produced by John Bradbury of THE SPECIALS for Staccato Records. In late 1980s England, Ska wasn’t quite in fashion as it had been earlier in the decade, the advent of rap, hip-hop, and underground/indie dance music ruled the airwaves and charts. This did not stop the multiracial, multi-culti band MAROON TOWN, named after clandestine villages set up by anti-British rebels in occupied Jamaica. Rooted in the hybrid formula of Two-Tone, “High and Dry” was an immediate success with it’s thrilling and diverse collection of fresh sounds blending rap, funky groove, and acid jazz – as well as just being downright fun! The horn section is pure fire and the foundation ska rhythm is so tight it’s hypnotic! “High and Dry ” is a must have, exciting debut record, and MAROON TOWN continue to this day, and are a popular concert draw all across Europe. | |

THE MAGNETICS are an Italian band formed in 2017 and led by Olly Riva, their sound mixes original Ska, early Reggae, Jamaican music, and Rocksteady filtered through a "vintage" soul rhythm n' blues vibe. The band's first album “JAMAICAN SKA” (2017) was nominated for 'Record of the Year' by many SKA webzines and radio stations around the world. Fast forward to August and November of 2020, the band releases "Cocktails & Fairy Tales" Vol 1 & 2, both collected here on limited edition yellow vinyl, 300 copies. The album is a wonderful mix of songs about drinks from around the world! Booze! Cocktails! Scorching surf 60s ska, crooner big band vocals, Cuban-Jamaican mambo reggae and so much more! Songs about "Gin & Tonic", "Bloody Mary", "Campari", "Tequila Boom Boom", "Mojito", "Jamaica Glow" and more! The perfect summer ska/reggae record of 2022!

Hailing from Britain’s formerly industrial heartland of North Yorkshire, The Burial was a forward-facing ska, punk / Oi! band with a strong Left orientation, channeling 2Tone, Northern Soul, punk, and folk influences. Rhythm guitarist Eric ‘Barney’ Barnes made sure the world knew these skinheads were antifascist and the use of a full horn section made their sole LP, A Day On The Town, stand out. Unlike The Redskins, who soon moved to the student circuit, The Burial remained embedded in the working class communities from whence they came; this fine, often overlooked LP will be devoured by all fans of ska-punk and Oi!. We played the laid back skanker “The Gift” and punk-calypso corker “Shelia” a ton on our radio show back in the day, other songs harkened back to early Billy Bragg, The Jam, and the debut Dexy’s album. 500 copies on white vinyl.

During the mid-1980s, Rhythmites used their music to break down racial, ethnic, and cultural barriers. Formed in the small Roman town of Bath in the west of England, Rhythmites issued a couple of tapes on UK peace punk pioneers Subhumans’ label Bluurg before cutting debut LP Integration in 1989, by which time lead singer Angus Wright and bassist Clive ‘Flash’ Gordon were injecting the Jamaican sensibility atop the English core of keyboardist Rich Patterson, future Invisible System drummer Gary Woodhouse and future RDF guitarist Murph Murphy. It’s a compelling set of defiant roots with a touch of new wave, reminding of the vibrant hybrids conjured in the greater Bristol area, a worthy discovery for all fans of British reggae and rebellious late-80s post-punk. | |

Devin Morrison aka Man-Like-Devin is a songwriter, guitarist and collector of Jamaican music born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. In 1999 he co-founded Los Angeles roots-reggae group The Expanders. They spent the next decade playing in and around the L.A. area as part of the city's then-thriving ska, rocksteady and early reggae scene. The Expanders released four studio albums from 2011-2018, the latter two of which debuted at number one on the Billboard Reggae Chart. In 2018 Morrison and The Expanders parted ways on friendly terms, he began writing a solo acoustic record and teamed up with long-time friend Roger Rivas (The Aggrolites, Long Beach Dub Allstars, Jason Mraz) to record it. Man-Like-Devin’s first acoustic solo record Wheel And Shoulder: Acoustic Reggae, Rocksteady & Ska Vol I was recorded at Rivas Studios and Man-Like Studios from October 2019 to October 2020 and was be released on the Rootfire Cooperative label. The full-length LP is a completely acoustic album with no electric instruments that features Morrison’s GRAMMY-nominated brother Patrick Morrison on upright bass, banjo and lead acoustic guitars, Devin’s father Tom Morrison on harmonica, and The California Honeydrops. Beautiful ska & reggae with a Jamaican mento lean, we released the cassette version and CD in late 2021, and we are now are proud to carry the vinyl in the webshop! | |

San Diego's trad-ska champs celebrate 30 years!

Formed in 1992, “San Diego’s mutated ska collective” Unsteady originally featured two members of local ska band the Donkey Show, guitarist Chris “Creedy” Bates and drummer Kent Graves, along with sax / vocalist John Roy, who’d been with a late-’80s local ska band called the Gangbusters. Their 1996 debut album Tightrope (Immune Records) was followed by 1997’s Double or Nothing (Asian Man Records) and Live in the Studio (2001). After a prolonged period of inactivity, they reunited to play several live shows in summer 2010, continuing to get together from time to time. In 2017 they went single crazy releasing “LIAR” b/w MR BURU” and “The Most Important Person” b/w “Self Made Man” plus a split with the Satanic Puppeteer Orchestra and their tune “SWAY”. Fast forward to 2021 and John Roy is taking over the world with his studio project SMOKE & MIRRORS SOUND SYSTEM, yet he still finds time to release the brand new UNSTEADY album “THIRD TIME’S A CHARM” that blends ska with bordertown radio, add a dash of geek, lounge, jump, circus, and street corner busking – that’s close to the Unsteady sound! Recorded and mixed on a Tascam cassette 8-track, the music is a loving tribute dank 70s dub reggae, deeply in debt to the original Jamaican engineers of the '70s who turned their mixing consoles into the lead instrument à la Lee "Scratch" Perry and King Tubby. Twelve dubwise instrumentals drenched in spring reverb, cosmic tape delay and mystic vibes. The Vipers lay down steady drum & bass driven rhythms with jazz tinged melodies and post-punk attitude, the songs are manipulated with twists and turns of the console, saturated tape delays and exaggerated EQ until the track becomes something new. | |

LOLLYPOP LORRY is a beloved ska & reggae act from Russia, between August 2018 and October 2019 the band returned to Octopus Studios to record this new album “Goes Dub”! As its name suggests, this is a pure Dub album, influenced by traditional Jazz. A resolutely musical inspired opus with beautiful solos, guitars, brass, percussion... Jamaican sounds played live, with a superb mix produced by Victor Rice in his studio in São Paulo, Brazil. “Goes Dub” features nine re-interpretations of standards played by legends such as Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, John Coltrane, Paul Desmond, Aswad, Henry Mancini , Thelonious Monk, Dexter Gordon and Kenny Garrett! In 2020 there was a Russian pressed edition limited to 100 copies (which we distributed in private sales!) - we loved this album so much that we offered to press more in the USA to distribute worldwide! Now available on clear green vinyl in addition to black vinyl. 350 copies.

A catch mix of 90's Hellcat style punky street ska, equal parts British 2-Tone and American punk. Formed in early 2019 by scene veterans Eric Vedder (bass) and Jeremy Sandoval (guitar) alongside frontwoman Erin Smith-Norrick, Timothy Calacsan (keys), Kevin Erney (drums), and Colin Darby (sax) - don’t let their short time on the scene fool you, this group is comprised of all experienced musicians and have been linked to a handful of great acts at one time or another! Fan favorites like their cover of “Fat Randy” and the original “Over It” have been featured on compilations like “Puro Desmadre” (Voodoo Glowskulls Tribute) and on SMELVIS RECORDS "SKALLOWEEN 2020"! Soon the band caught the ear of SKA PUNK DAILY and were featured on the groundbreaking California ska-punk collection "TOO HECTIC" in the summer of 2021.
