The Children's Trust Family Expo to be Held on Aug. 2; Pop-Ups This Month

The Children’s Trust Family Expo is going back to its roots August 2, as it returns to the Miami-Dade County Fair & Expo grounds. The Family Expo continues to be the best chance for families to connect with the Trust’s extensive provider network as well as other community agencies and organizations that serve them. Let your networks know about this great opportunity, including two Family Expo Pop-Up events in July, to access services. The Ripple Effect Summer Wellness Kits Available from YWCA

The YWCA would like to extend a free offer to providers and all of their staff to receive The Ripple Effect Wellness Kits. Regardless of whether they have taken a training in the past, these wellness kits are meant to honor the work being done with children and families while reminding them to take a moment for themselves. The kits come with items to encourage summer relaxation and fun. Once a request is received, the YWCA will reach out to schedule pick-up dates. Kits are limited. First come first serve. Help Shape a Better Miami-Dade for Women; Take Survey!

The HER Miami Survey, led by YWCA South Florida and FIU’s Jorge M. Pérez Metropolitan Center, aims to better understand the experiences and challenges women face in our community. Your voice matters—your feedback will help inform services, policies, and opportunities that support women across the county. The survey is confidential and takes just 10 minutes to complete.

In September 2024, The Children’s Trust awarded YWCA South Florida an innovation grant to begin conceptualizing the development of HER Miami, a project aimed at improving gender-focused information and resources for women. The end goal of this work is to create a centralized platform that brings together opportunity, community, and support to ensure all women and their families can improve their lives in an accessible, coordinated, and simple manner.

Community Workshop for LGBTQ+ Youth and Families *

Hosted by Urban Health Partnerships (UHP), this workshop will engage participants on In CommUNITY, an initiative bringing people together to improve the health and wellbeing of LGBTQ+ communities. LGBTQ+ young people and their family members are invited to join to discuss challenges LGBTQ+ youth face, including how health care access and community support affect health. Participants will explore ways to drive community-led change and hear from In CommUNITY partners working t o make Miami-Dade a better place for LGBTQ+ youth. Nasdaq Foundation Grant Program for Under-Resourced Communities

Driven by Nasdaq’s Purpose to advance economic progress for all, the Nasdaq Foundation works with organizations that promote & support under-resourced communities by reimagining investor engagement and equipping communities with the financial knowledge needed to share in the wealth that markets create. NEXT for Autism Grant Cycle

Through its grants program, NEXT for AUTISM empowers autistic-led and community-based initiatives to create meaningful change in four focus areas:

• Work: Enhancing employment opportunities for autistic adults.
• Home: Improving living environments for autistic individuals.
• Social Engagement: Fostering connections, friendships, and community integration.
• Health & Well-being: Promoting access to healthcare, mental health support, and wellness resources for autistic individuals.

First-time grantees may apply for up to $10,000, while returning grantees are eligible to request up to $25,000. Grant application deadline is July 27.

Performing Arts Funding Grant Program

ETC supports the arts throughout the United States by awarding cash grants to non-profit performance groups. Grants are modest and limited to a maximum of $5,000 in order to distribute funding to a greater number of worthy organizations. Preference is given to organizations producing their own work rather than to hosting venues. Applying and meeting qualifications does not guarantee an award. The Committee typically receives many more applications than can be funded. ETC may partially fund any application at its discretion.

Eligibility Requirements:

To apply for funding, applicants must be based in the United States and meet one of the following:

A 501(c)(3) non-profit residing in the United States. Accredited public or private school/university residing in the United States. Don't Forget to Apply for the 2025 Eyes On Your Mission Free Video Grant

The 2025 Eyes On Your Mission (EOYM) Annual Video Grant applications open on May 16. The grant provides nonprofits with a free video production and visual storytelling promotional package. This package includes: communications strategy, videos, still photos and social media content. 

Grants have been awarded to selected nonprofits that exhibit innovation, creativity, and future-thinking. The grant is international, multi-lingual and considers a diverse range of causes and organizations. The organization that sponsors the grant is headquartered in Miami and Chicago, however, any NGO globally is eligible and invited to apply. They encourage previous applicants to apply again with fresh updated ideas.

Training and Experience Requirements: Bachelors in social work or related field. Minimum of 2 years-experience working with families who have children with disabilities and knowledge of local community strongly preferred. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Bilingual English-Creole or English-Spanish preferred. Salary range is $47,000-$50,000.

UM Pediatrics Department Seeking Certified Medical Assistant

The University of Miami Health System, "UHealth", Department of Pediatrics has an exciting opportunity for a full-time medical assistant 3 to work in the Multi-Specialty Pediatric Clinic(s). The medical assistant 3 (MA 3) will perform multi-skilled tasks to assist the medical providers. The MA 3 shall assist patients’ health care management and clinical procedures in a culturally competent manner utilizing evidence-based standards of quality, safety, and service. The MA 3 provides hands-on care to patients while adhering to regulatory requirements, standards of care, and institutional policies and procedures, under the direct supervision and responsibility of a licensed physician. The physician in charge may delegate the tasks to oversee the MA 3 to a Nurse or Designee in charge of the unit/clinic. The MA 3 shall adhere to ethical and legal standards of professional practice, recognize, respond to emergencies, and demonstrate professionalism. The MA 3 provides care within the philosophy, mission, vision, and values, as well as within the policies and procedures of the Department of Nursing and the University of Miami. As a professional, monitors the quality of care provided and nurtures a compassionate and healing environment. The MA 3 works directly with the Nurse Manager/Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse and/or the Designee in charge of the Unit or Clinic to ensure a safe delivery of care that supports the UHealth mission.

The Richmond Perrine Optimist Club is seeking a Parenting Support Specialist to provide guidance to parents of children ages 0–18 using the Nurturing Parenting Curriculum (materials provided). This role includes facilitating groups, recruiting participants, managing a caseload, conducting needs assessments, and offering supportive services. Strong communication skills, basic computer proficiency, and reliable transportation are required. A bachelor’s degree in social work or related field and group facilitation experience are preferred.
