President's Column | Sabrina Franz, SNUGZ USA
Happy Holidays UMAPP Members!

This column is going to be fairly short since I’m in the middle of my maternity leave.

Big shout out to our very own Sue Selseth, Taylor Borst and Chris Babish for representing LDW in Dallas last month. The Leadership Development Workshop is an awesome opportunity for UMAPP executive board members and our Executive Director to learn, grow and collaborate with fellow board members across the country. They then take this knowledge to make UMAPP the best for its members.

I also wanted to use this as an opportunity to wish you all a healthy, happy and successful Holiday season! It’s been an honor to serve as your UMAPP 2022 President and I can’t think of a better individual than Taylor Borst to be your incoming president!

Lastly, I’m excited to announce on October 5, 2022, at 12:22AM, Bo Michael Franz was born 😊 We are soaking in all the love as a family of five!

Again, Happy Holidays and looking forward to seeing you all in 2023!

Sabrina Franz, 2022 UMAPP President

When sending emails, many professionals begin with the phrase, “I hope this finds you well.” While there’s nothing inherently wrong with this statement, it’s also incredibly commonplace.

Because it's used so often, the sentence feels impersonal. And chances are, the person receiving your email won’t feel compelled to continue reading your note.

Membership dues in UMAPP go towards many programs that benefit our members.

One of the most important resources UMAPP provides to its members is representation in PPAI's L.E.A.D (Legislative Education and Action Day) in Washington, D.C.

Each year, three UMAPP board members attend and engage with PPAI members from across the United States in LEAD, meeting with state legislators about the promotional products industry.

This is such an important role in the industry because it is the base for nearly all of the merchandise we sell on a daily basis. From importing tariffs, to employment regulations, and taxes to product labeling and safety. Without the united endeavor of local regional associations like UMAPP and PPAI combining efforts, we would not have a voice in any of the bills and reforms taking place in Washington DC.
Did you know?
. . . Bear markets are not rare. Since 1929, the US stock market has been in bear-market territory nearly 25% of the time. The New York Times, NY Times.com

. . . Happy dogs wag their tails to their right? Right-side motion is controlled by the left side of the brain, which is associated with positive feelings - so a happy dog typically wags to the right. The right side of the brain, which controls movement on the left side of the body, is associated with negative feelings, so a do that is fearful likely will wag to the left. WholeDog Journal, Whole-Dog-Journal.com.

. . . Volunteer - and save on entertainment. Cultural festivals and events often give event volunteers free admission. Contact the organizers of an event in which you are interested to find out if they use volunteers and if that will get you in for free. AmericaSaves.org
