We illuminate our community with God’s grace as we lovingly accept, listen to, and serve all in the Spirit of Jesus.

The United Methodist Church of Geneva Welcomes Rev. Heather Connor as Minister of Formation & Outreach

The Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) and leadership of the United Methodist Church of Geneva (UMCG) are excited to announce the hiring of Rev. Heather Connor as our new Minister of Formation & Outreach. After an extensive search process, Heather was chosen for their exceptional skills in intergenerational ministry, creative worship, pastoral care, and their ability to connect the church with the wider community in meaningful ways.

Heather brings a wealth of experience in designing innovative and engaging programs that resonate across generations, fostering both spiritual depth and community growth. She is deeply passionate about creating safe, inclusive spaces for all, where children, youth, and adults can thrive in their faith journeys. Heather’s organizational talents, combined with their relational and collaborative leadership, align perfectly with UMCG’s mission to illuminate our community with God’s grace.

Heather is married to Adam, and together they have three children: Maddie (16), Ben (14), and Sam (8). The Connor family will relocate to Geneva in June, when Heather will begin their full-time role with us. However, Heather will start contributing to UMCG remotely in January, focusing on preparing for VBS and fall programming. They will also be making virtual introductions to committees and groups this spring, ensuring a smooth transition and a strong start to their ministry here.

We look forward to formally welcoming Heather and their family to Geneva with a special event in June. In the meantime, we encourage you to send a word of welcome to Heather at heather@genevaumc.org.

A Message from Ken McNeil, Staff Parish Relations Committee Chair

As Chair of the Staff Parish Relations Committee, I am thrilled to welcome Rev. Heather Connor as our new Minister of Formation and Outreach. Throughout the interview and discernment process, Heather has been so impressive with a strong sense of calling, a deep commitment to fostering spiritual growth and meaningful community engagement.

I believe Heather will bring fresh ideas, faithful leadership, and a collaborative spirit to this role, helping to guide our congregation in living out our mission and to help our church grow.

I invite you to join me in extending a warm welcome to Heather and their family, offering your prayers and encouragement in support of this vital ministry.

A Message from Pastor Rob Hamilton

I am so excited to welcome Rev. Heather Connor to the United Methodist Church of Geneva. I believe that God has prepared both Heather and UMCG for this shared ministry in this season. As Heather steps into this role, it feels providential—this new position is a tangible sign of God’s presence and work in our midst.

John Wesley famously said, “Best of all, God is with us.” I truly feel that God is with us as we embark on this journey together. I am eager to begin collaborating with Heather remotely in January and in person when they arrive in June. I believe God is already planning and starting so much to help us continue revitalizing UMCG and illuminating our communities with God’s grace.

As we dream boldly, journeying together, I pray for the fruit that this already vibrant, inclusive community, rooted in Divine Love, will bear.”
