WE NEED FUND RAISING IDEAS!
If you have any unique,  new  ideas please share them!
In the 2018 church budget $7,000 was projected as income from fund raising. The Finance Team is looking for ideas for these fund raising projects. Ruthanne Huber has graciously agreed to coordinate the fruit sale again this year. A couple of ideas we have received are: a "Sip and Paint" art class and a golf tournament. We are hoping that some of you, especially our newer members, might have some unique, new ideas. Please contact me or e-mail the church office with your ideas.

NEED A NAMETAG?

  Need a Nametag?

Are you new and need a nametag, or need a replacement? Sign-up on the clipboard by the current nametags or call the church office.

COMMUNION STEWARDS NEEDED

We need one or more volunteers to serve as communion stewards on Communion Sundays, which are always the first Sunday of each month. Communion Stewards would be responsible for setting up and removing the communion supplies before and after the services.  This is not a time-consuming job, but it would be good to have two people sharing the position, so that one could be there for the 8:30 service and one for the 10:30 service.  Please contact the church office if you are interested in serving in this capacity.

EDUCATION OPPORTUNITY

Spanish Language, Theology, Culture and Social Justice program sponsored by the Mtn. Sky Conference will take place in Cuernavaca, Mexico   Oct. 22 - Nov. 2 This program is designed for all levels of Spanish. Intensive instruction happens each morning followed by field trips, lectures, bible study, and discussions with religious and social justice activists.

For more information and registration, contact the Superintendent of Leadership Development, Rev. Youngsook Kang, at ykang@mtnskyumc.org.

MINISTRY JOTTINGS BY PASTOR DEB

The Small Stuff

"You have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of the Lord." Matthew 25:21

A man once said to his new bride. "Honey, I think the best way for our family to operate would be for you to take care of all the small stuff, and let me take care of all the big stuff." His young wife agreed, and so they lived their lives.

At the celebration of their fiftieth wedding anniversary, the couple was asked to share their "secret" to a happy marriage. The husband relayed the agreement they had mad as newlyweds. His wife added with a smile, "And I discovered that if I took care of the small stuff, there never was any big stuff to handle!"

Clearing away the small stuff of life - the daily decisions, problem-solving and nuisances that need to be resolved - can be regarded as a burden, or they can be viewed as paving the way to peace and productivity. It takes just as much effort to remove small stones from a path as it does to arrange them so they make a better path. Let us remember that when we handle the small things, we can move on to the greater things.

In my short time here I have discovered that our church has paid staff who are masters of attending to the small stuff that comes up around the ministry for Christ we are about. They are attentive, kind and positive. What a blessing they are!

In Christ's grace,

Pastor Deb
