The building is closed,
but church is OPEN!
Tuesday, March 24, 2020
Dear Church Family,

Our church community has joined the world in prayer and social distancing in the face of the spreading COVID-19 pandemic. While the church building is closed, our ministry continues in new and creative ways! We’re worshipping online. We’re gathering for small group study and fellowship through video conference calls. We’re organizing a caring network to stay connected with those who are off-line or need special assistance with food or prescription deliveries. Our children and youth ministry have gone virtual, through emailed lessons and worksheets, one-on-one FaceTime check-ins, and group video chats. We’re even offering an online yoga class that you can join from the comfort of your home. This is new, uncharted territory for us as a church, but we are taking on the challenge with hope and creativity. In times like this, people need the church more than ever, and we are committed to continuing our strong ministry for people of all ages and life stages. Please check out the calendar of events listed below, or on the bottom left of our website, for details about ministry opportunities and how to join in by phone, device, or computer.

Many of you may be wondering how you can help during this time. First and foremost, whenever possible, stay home. Medical professionals worldwide are imploring us to help prevent COVID-19 spread by avoiding close contact. Second, if you would like to join our calling or helping hands network, please reach out to Barbara Roguski (732-939-4098 or bkroguski(at) ). Third, if you live near the church, make a food donation to the Backpack Crew in the collection box on the back porch. And fourth, if you are able, continue to support the ministry of the church with your financial gifts. While we are not physically passing the offering plate on Sunday morning, your financial gifts are still needed for the health of our church and the support of our staff. There are several ways you can contribute without leaving home:
  1. Mail a check to: UMC of Red Bank (Attn: Sheila Leavitt), 247 Broad St, Red Bank, NJ 07701.
  2. Use online bill pay through your bank’s web site, to make either one-time or recurring donations. For more information on how to do this, please contact your bank.
  3. Set up a one-time or recurring donation to the church through our website. Go to and follow the directions. Your donation can be made from a bank account (1% processing fee) or by credit card (3% processing fee).

In light of this unprecedented event many of you may be facing unexpected needs and circumstances. If the church can be of help, please reach out to Pastor Jess (908-400-2343 or jbnaulty(at) . We are actively developing a network of support and will do our best to support your individual needs.

We are hopeful that with God’s help, and with the love and support of this wonderful community, we will emerge from this crisis stronger than ever and will look back on this as one of our finest hours. May the love of God bind us together and flow from us as we serve others.

God bless,
Pastor Jessica Naulty

Instructions for How to Join us Online
You can join in the weekly opportunities listed above in a few different ways:
  • If you are on a computer, smart phone, or device (i.e. iPad, Kindle), you can join simply by typing in the web addresses provided above into your internet browser.
  • For small group meetings offered through Zoom:
  • If you haven't downloaded and used Zoom before, you will want to click on the link 5 or 10 minutes before the meeting is scheduled to begin.
  • Once you have connected to the software you can test and use your device's built in microphone and speaker. The image seen below shows some of our church leaders meeting on a Zoom call. Notice that at the bottom of the image, you see a few circled and labeled icons. If the microphone or the video camera on the bottom left has a red slash through it, that means it is not turned on, or is muted. Click it to turn your microphone or camera on. Click on the small arrow next to the icons to see the sound or video options. The chat icon in the middle will allow you to type messages to the whole group. When you are ready to sign off, simply click "Leave Meeting" on the bottom right of your screen.
  • To listen in to meetings or worship from your telephone, dial the number provided and then enter the Meeting ID when prompted. If you are just listening, muting your phone will provide the best listening experience for everyone.
