Connections
Thursday, April 16, 2020
Our church community has joined the world in prayer and social distancing in the face of the spreading COVID-19 pandemic. While the church building is closed, our ministry continues in new and creative ways! We’re worshipping online. We’re gathering for small group study and fellowship through video conference calls. Please check out the calendar of events on the bottom left of our website for details about ministry opportunities and how to join in by phone, device, or computer.
If you need anything, please reach out to Pastor Jess via email or 908-400-2343 (cell).
Making Use of Technology to Stay Connected

While we are practicing our social distancing in response to the spread of COVID-19, that doesn't have to keep us from connecting with one another. Worship services may be viewed “live” by going to www.umcredbank.org/church-service-streaming-live/ or watch and comment in real time on www.facebook.com/umcredbank/live/ You do not need to have a Facebook account in order to watch! If you do have a Facebook account, once you start watching, feel free to click the Share button at the bottom of the screen, and share to with your friends. If you missed any of our services, you can find previous week's worship services on our church website by clicking here .

We will be offering a variety of our usual Christian Education classes, via the gift of technology. We will be using Zoom , a video and phone conferencing software, which is safe to download onto your computer, or on any device or phone. You could also simply call in through the phone number provided, and when prompted, type in the Meeting ID number for your group (provided in each of the events below). If you have any questions or concerns about getting access to Zoom, feel free to reach out to Ken Glossbrenner , who has plenty of experience using this technology. Or check out the instruction sheet available here.

UMCRB Church Staffing Updates
As many of you know, our Staff Parish Relations Committee has been hard at work with a number of staffing changes for our church. There are few updates we would like to share with you at this time.

In the main office, our long-time Church and Financial Secretary, Sheila Leavitt has reduced her hours and tasks, maintaining her role as Financial Secretary only. Please welcome our new Church Secretary, Nell Ryan to our staff, and while we cannot at this time greet her in person, please feel free to extend a word of welcome to her via email - [email protected].

Our long-time Church Sexton, Bob Shindel, who has been responsible for the care and cleaning of the building for many years has now officially retired, but he will be remaining active as a member of the church. Please welcome our new Church Sexton, Rick Cherry to our staff. While the majority of our ministry is happening out of the building, he is currently only present in the building three days a week for minimum hours.

While we have all be preparing to say our thank yous and farewells to Elaine Dawson, our long-time Director of Children and Youth Ministries, she has graciously agreed to extend her ministry with UMCRB, at least through May. Elaine has been hard at work moving our children, youth, and young adult ministry online, and has been a gift for our young people and their families. We are so thankful for her continued ministry with our church! Thank you Elaine!!! In the meantime, we are still actively searching for the next Director of Children and Youth Ministries to lead us into the future. Please surround this search in your prayers.
UMCRB Celebrates Earth Day
Red Bank United Methodist Church invites you to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day on April 22, 2020. Here are some ways you, your family and our congregation can show our continued commitment to being good stewards of the earth and our surrounding environment:
• Share with your kids about why clean energy is important for transportation. This week, we feature information about electric and hybrid vehicles on our website .
• Remember not to idle as you drive and note the anti-idling signs posted on our church property.
• Our church solar project has saved thousands of pounds of CO2 to date from the atmosphere.
• As part of our TREX challenge, UMCRB collected and sorted over 500 pounds of recycled plastic. The reward? A beautiful bench donated to the property by TREX.
Thanks for your continued support and participation.

UMCRB Response to COVID-19

In light of this unprecedented event, many of you may be facing unexpected needs and circumstances. If the church can be of help, please reach out to Pastor Jess via email or 908-400-2343. We are actively developing a network of support and will do our best to support your individual needs.
