Connections
Thursday, April 2, 2020
Our church community has joined the world in prayer and social distancing in the face of the spreading COVID-19 pandemic. While the church building is closed, our ministry continues in new and creative ways! We’re worshipping online. We’re gathering for small group study and fellowship through video conference calls. Please check out the calendar of events on the bottom left of our website for details about ministry opportunities and how to join in by phone, device, or computer.
If you need anything, please reach out to Pastor Jess via email or 908-400-2343 (cell).
Making Use of Technology to Stay Connected

While we are practicing our social distancing in response to the spread of COVID-19, that doesn't have to keep us from connecting with one another. Worship will be available online each Sunday through our Facebook page. You do not need to have a Facebook account in order to watch! Simply click on this link to go to our church Facebook page and scroll down to see the live video. Once you start watching, feel free to click the Share button at the bottom of the screen, and share to their friends If you are uncomfortable with Facebook, you can find the previous week's worship service on our church website by clicking here .

We will be offering a variety of our usual Christian Education classes, via the gift of technology. We will be using Zoom , a video and phone conferencing software, which is safe to download onto your computer, or on any device or phone. You could also simply call in through the phone number provided, and when prompted, type in the Meeting ID number for your group (provided in each of the events below). If you have any questions or concerns about getting access to Zoom, feel free to reach out to Ken Glossbrenner , who has plenty of experience using this technology. Or check out the instruction sheet available here.

UMCRB Celebrates Earth Day

Red Bank United Methodist Church invites you to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, April 22, 2020. Founded in 1970, this movement continues as we have made great progress over 5 decades through our Clean Water Act, through the EPA, and many efforts to reduce pollution and litter and clean up the air we breathe.  We continue our efforts now while facing the challenges of climate change. Where have we been and where will we go as good stewards of Planet Earth? Our UMCRB Green Faith Certification began in 2009 and we have been active ever since, reducing CO2 and producing nearly half a million Kilowatt hours of electricity since the beginning of 2011.  All through April we will focus on our areas of action: Recycling, Trex Challenge, Solar projects, Green clean vehicles, Gardening at home and with UMW, following a plant based diet, Thriving in Nature and Pollinator Protection.

Follow our weekly activities to do at home or outside, and participate in our virtual Green Fair all month, leading up to Earth Day and Beyond.  Each of us can do small things and work on some large things to help shrink our footprints on the earth.  Please share some of your ways of living as good stewards on our Facebook Group “Fellowship Hall” , and feel welcome to ask questions!  Thanks for participating! The Green Faith Team welcomes you!
Calling Kids and Teens to Celebrate

You could also print out and color this printable palm branch . We will use the images of their artwork to create a fun video montage that we will share on our website and Facebook pages. Backpack Crew Update

The backpack crew is continuing to receive donations.
We are working with all of our school nurses to devise a plan to continue delivery if in fact our schools close. If this happens the good news is we will not be confined to a backpack! We can put together bags and boxes of food for our kids!
There will be collection bins outside of our food pantry location- the back porch of United Methodist Church of Red Bank at 247 Broad Street. Drop and run!! The items that we are most in need of are granola bars, oatmeal packs, cereal, fruit cups. And let’s think about the kids who may be home alone because parents need to work! Easy to make foods. Mac and cheese cups, BREAD for PBJs, fruit!!! Thank you for your continued support. Email us at backpackcrewnj@gmail.com with any questions.
Scholastic Assistance Committee Scholarships

Paper applications for Scholastic Assistance Committee scholarships for the 2020- 2021 school year will be available as usual on or about April 1. An editable application, which the applicant will fill out, print, and mail in, will also be available this year. The editable applications will be available on April 1st from Scholastic Assistance Committee Chair, Barbara Guenther by e-mailing at bjguenther@verizon.net .
