Check out what's going on this week at the UMC of Red Bank!
Thursday, March 19, 2020
Reminder: As a result of the local state of emergency in the Borough of Red Bank,
our church facilities are currently closed for all church functions as well as for 12-step and community groups. Staff access to the offices is limited, so if you need to be in touch with any of our staff, please use email or cell phones rather than calling the church.
If you need anything, please reach out to Pastor Jess via email or 908-400-2343 (cell).
Making Use of Technology to Stay Connected

While we are practicing our social distancing in response to the spread of COVID-19, that doesn't have to keep us from connecting with one another. Worship will be available online each Sunday through our Facebook page. You do not need to have a Facebook account in order to watch! Simply click on this link to go to our church Facebook page and scroll down until you see the live video. If you are uncomfortable with Facebook, you can find the previous week's worship service on our church website by clicking here .

We will be offering a variety of our usual Christian Education classes, via the gift of technology. We will be using Zoom , a video and phone conferencing software, which is safe to download onto your computer, or on any device or phone. You could also simply call in through the phone number provided, and when prompted, type in the Meeting ID number for your group (provided in each of the events below). If you have any questions or concerns about getting access to Zoom, feel free to reach out to Ken Glossbrenner , who has plenty of experience using this technology. If you click on the image below , you can watch video tutorials to help you learn how to use Zoom.
Worship Sneak Peek
March 22, 2020

Join us on Sunday in worship as we continue our Lenten journey through the Dark Woods. Throughout Lent, we'll be invited to see "life through new eyes, recognizing that experiences of failure, emptiness, and uncertainty are as critical for finding our way through life, as they are unavoidable.” (Elnes)
On this fourth Sunday of Lent, we look to the Gifts found in the times where it feels as though we've lost our way. Rather than panic in our disorientation, let's open our hearts to the Spirit's guidance, and see where God might lead us next. Hope to journey with you this Sunday as we make our way through the dark wood.

Backpack Crew Update

The backpack crew is continuing to receive donations.
We are working with all of our school nurses to devise a plan to continue delivery if in fact our schools close. If this happens the good news is we will not be confined to a backpack! We can put together bags and boxes of food for our kids!
There will be collection bins outside of our food pantry location- the back porch of United Methodist Church of Red Bank at 247 Broad Street. Drop and run!! The items that we are most in need of are granola bars, oatmeal packs, cereal, fruit cups. And let’s think about the kids who may be home alone because parents need to work! Easy to make foods. Mac and cheese cups, BREAD for PBJs, fruit!!! Thank you for your continued support.
Email us at with any questions.
UMCRB Response to COVID-19

In order to manage the various ministry and operational concerns that may arise while our building is closed we have gathered an Emergency Response Team. This team is working on things such as communications, online worship planning, building management and the development of church community virtual support groups for all ages. Bobbie Ridgely is the contact person for this effort and can be reached at   or 732-687-5397.

Our church is a place of community, love, and support. In troubled times, connection with God and each other is even more essential. As we remain connected through technology, phone calls, cards, and prayer, may God bind us together in new and creative ways.

If you need help for any reason, please don't hesitate to reach out to Pastor Jess (908-400-2343) or Bobbie Ridgely (732-687-5397), and we will do our best to meet your needs.
