Exploring equitable Futures Call for Proposals

The purpose of this Exploring Equitable Futures call for proposals (CFP) is to support projects that seed new and unconventional ideas that could radically advance health equity for generations to come. We aim to fund projects that:

  • Explore the future by researching and experimenting with ideas that are ahead of the curve or at the edge of our collective imagination;
  • Shine a light on the emerging trends and forces that are shaping our future for better or worse—and suggest ways to navigate them to mitigate harm and advance health equity;
  • Dream big and challenge conventional wisdom to surface possibilities and uncover new paths to dismantle structural racism and build a more equitable future.

Application Deadline is October 15th, 2025. Apply online at

Ekaterina Pivovarova, PhD, is the lead author of a paper in the Journal of the American Pharmacist Association describing how pharmacists’ expertise can be applied to improving access to substance use disorder treatment for individuals enrolled in problem-solving courts. The manuscript describes how pharmacy-related competencies can be used to provide consultation on medications for opioid use disorders, facilitate liaison between courts and community treatment providers, educate court staff and program participants, and deliver direct care to program participants. The paper has been included here for your review.

Sonal Singh, MD, had a recent paper published in the Journal of American Geriatrics Society titled "Lecanemab Therapy Use Patterns for Alzheimer's Disease Among Early Initiators in a Large National Health Plan". This study demonstrated slow uptake of lecanemab among Medicare Advantage beneficiaries. The paper has been included here for your review.

Inspire the next generation of Family Physicians! MassAHEC is planning for

AY25-26! Longitudinal Preceptors Needed! With the next academic year fast approaching, Longitudinal Preceptors are needed for incoming MassAHEC Rural and Urban Health Scholars. Students work with LPs for 6 sessions in year one and 6 in year two.  More than 30% of these scholars have gone into Family Medicine due to the lessons learned during these early years of med school. This feedback summarizes it best:  “Working with my Longitudinal Preceptor has been one of the most enriching aspects of the program. …taught me to tailor my interviews to the patient population to better address their needs. …taught me the importance of interprofessional teamwork and integrating behavioral health into primary care. Observing how she collaborates with other healthcare professionals has emphasized the significance of a team-based approach to enhance patient outcomes.” If interested, please contact Linda.Cragin@umassmed.edu.
