SEASONS OF ADJUSTMENT

Starting Fresh

1 Welcome back for a NEW Semester!

We are so glad to welcome you back to another semester at UNT! We hope you and your student had a wonderful, safe, relaxing winter break and are ready to begin this spring semester. As your student takes on the challenge of readjusting to campus life, encourage them to focus on the potential for new opportunities and feel confident taking on these new classes.

Readjusting to Campus Life

2 Encouragement goes a long way!

No matter how your student spent their time away from campus, coming back after break can be both exciting and anxiety-provoking. So, encourage your Eagle to get back into a new routine and to use university resources to make the adjustment.

Keep a Good Balance

3 It's all about balance!

The beginning of a new semester can be exciting and packed with new goals. Remind your student that balance is vital for success and that self-care goals are just as important as academic goals. It can be difficult to figure out how to do this, so encourage your students to reach out and use university resources, if necessary.

STUDENT SUCCESS CORNER

Academic Advisor | Various Locations

In support of student success at UNT, academic advising is a collaborative partnership between advisor and student. Academic advisors use a holistic and developmental approach to assist students in defining, clarifying, and achieving academic, personal and career goals. Students should meet with an advisor at least two weeks before your registration date every semester. Students can make an appointment to meet with their academic advisor through Navigate. To find the advising office for your student's academic college, click here.

Housing - Residence Assistant | Various Residence Halls

The Resident Assistant (RA) position is a student employee position within Department of Housing and Residence Life. An RA’s primary responsibility is to act as a facilitator of community development in the residence halls by working with students to provide an orderly and safe environment to live in, and to provide opportunities for the social, educational, intellectual and cultural development of the residents. Each wing or floor has its own Resident Assistant. Residents should contact their RAs first with any questions or problems; if the RA cannot personally help the resident, he or she will direct the resident to someone who can.

Counseling and Testing | Chestnut Hall 313

Counseling and Testing Services strives to support the academic success and general well-being of UNT students through professional counseling, career counseling, consultation, mental-health screenings, educational programs, and self-help resources as well as a referral services.
