UNT's College of Music welcomed Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Lyle Lovett to campus. His visit to the College of Music included a standing-room-only performance with the university’s famed One O’Clock Lab Band. If you want to know more about him and his visit click here.

Last Regular Meeting Class | Thursday, May 2
Remind your student that the last day of their normal course schedule will end the week before finals week.

Reading Day | Friday, May 3
The day after regular course meetings end for the semester is Reading Day for our students. This means that there will be no class meetings and gives students an extra day of studying and preparing for finals.

Finals Week | Saturday, May 4 - Friday, May 10
Finals Week is approaching! Remind your student that their final exam schedule may look different from their regular course schedule this semester and to take a look so they can be as prepared as possible. For more information, click here.

Residence Hall Move Out | Friday May 10
Remind your student how important it is to have an end of semester move out plan. Move out dates are Friday May 10. For more information, click here.

Commencement | Friday, May 10 - Sunday, May 12
As the semester comes to an end, it is time to honor our students who will be completing their studies here at UNT. The Spring 2024 commencement ceremonies will be held from Friday, May 10 - Sunday, May 12. Whether you know someone participating in one of the ceremonies, or you will be on campus to help your student move out, this event is important to have on your radar. Summer Break | Friday, May 10 - Sunday, August 18

First Day of the Fall Semester | Monday, August 19

2024 is an election year. Remember that voting is a very important right that we have. UNT supports students by providing information on how and where to vote. The UNT Gateway Center will be a voting center on Election Day, May 4, 2024. To get more information please click here | |

Farewell Toast | Thursday, May 9
If your student is graduating this semester, this is a great opportunity to celebrate one last event as a UNT student. This event will take place at the Alumni Pavilion and will include live music, hors d'oeuvres and a special toast with the official UNT Alumni wine (non-alcoholic beverages will also be available). Additionally, the first 500 students to sign up will receive a free commemorative glass.

Finishing the Semester Strong | |

1 This time of the school year can be important for students as they work to tie up loose ends for this school year.
Remind your students to take care of themselves as they prepare for finals and to end the school year. Telling your student how much you support them can help them feel more motivated to face this stressful task.

2 As students transition to the summer break, this can also bring up some unique questions and anxieties.
Whether you student decides to take summer courses over the summer or take the time to recharge before the Fall semester begins again, your student may encounter some difficulties transitioning to either period. Have a conversation with your student about what their expectations are after coming home from school or even as they continue academics over the summer. Remind your student that it is normal to feel some changes in returning home after living independently at school for a year.

Preparing for the Next School Year | |

3 As your student and your family celebrate successfully finishing the school year, take some time to reflect.
As the school year comes to a close, this is a good time for your student to reflect on their experiences. Encourage your student to reflect on what they may have learned not only about what they learned in their courses, but what they may have learned about themselves. This would also be a good time to review financial needs for the coming year, and any needs that may come up (job search, new habits, etc).
