WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A
"WELCOMING AND INCLUSIVE" CONGREGATION?
Join us for lunch after worship on June 2 to explore what it means for UPC to welcome diversity in our congregation. The Social Witness Committee invites you for a healthy lunch and a healthy discussion about the Affirmative Inclusion Statement recently approved by our session:

University Presbyterian Church strives to embody God’s love for the diversity of creation by affirming the dignity of all persons as created in God’s image. We welcome people of all races, cultures, sexual orientations, gender expressions, and socioeconomic status in all ministries of the church.
Adopted by UPC Session February 2019

In addition to exploring how this statement might change our congregational life together, we will explore resources that are available to support our work together through More Light Presbyterians and the Covenant Network of Presbyterians.
Welcome Jeannie Shear, SPM Intern!
We're very pleased to welcome our Supervised Practice of Ministry Intern Jeannie Shear to UPC. Jeannie is from Conway, Arkansas and a graduate of Centre College in Danville, KY where she studied Religion and English. In college she developed a passion for interfaith dialogue, and it was during a summer spent conducting honors thesis research on a community of Canadian Muslims that she first felt a more definitive sense of calling to ministry. She explored that calling through a year-long internship at First Presbyterian Church of Conway before starting seminary in the Fall of 2017. She married her husband, Ricky, a PhD grad student in English literature at UT, this past January. Jeannie enjoys hiking, reading, discovering new questions, listening to people talk about what they love, and hanging out with her wonderful cat, Mylo.

Jeannie will be with us full-time during the summer. This Sunday will be her first day participating in worship leadership. Please be sure to say hi when you see her Sunday!

A FULFILLED COVENANT. . .
. . .how Jesus fulfilled the law in the sense that it was given full meaning. Jesus emphasized the deep, underlying message of the gospel, and this same message is continued through the apostle Paul and the writer of Hebrews. Relationships of faith empower us to live the covenant and spread the gospel message.
