More Information From the Maine Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics:

Maine’s healthcare providers are being called upon to raise their voices in solidarity following the tragic shooting in Lewiston on October 25^th. Gun violence is an epidemic in the United States and requires a unified public health response. Physicians and other public health experts need to take a leadership role in helping to craft a comprehensive approach to address firearm safety.

The Maine Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, in partnership with the Maine Medical Association and Maine Osteopathic Association, are reaching out to physicians and advanced practice providers to engage in conversations around gun safety. Recognizing that we all are dealing with the trauma of this tragedy in our own way, we are offering three opportunities for you to get involved:

1.      Sign a letter to urge our elected officials to take immediate and decisive action to address firearm safety

2.      Participate in a Maine Providers for Gun Safety white coat rally in Lewiston on Sunday, November 19^th

3.      Join a coalition of physicians and other healthcare providers advocating for firearm safety
