How will the draft plan address housing? Get a preview this week

Note: A previous version of this email did not include the Zoom link to join Tuesday's steering committee meeting. The link is now available on the button below.

Since the start of the Near Northwest Area planning process, we have heard from everyone who has participated on how important housing is to the future of the area's neighborhoods. Where new housing should go, how we can add different types of housing and how to make it more affordable--community members have shared a lot of comments and ideas on these questions.

This coming week, city staff and the plan steering committee will review the land use and housing chapters of the draft plan that will be posted for public review later this year. The public is invited and encouraged to join the meeting to observe the discussion.

About the Steering Committee

The steering committee is a group of residents, local business owners and representatives of neighborhood groups and community organizations from every neighborhood in the planning area. Their role is to help guide the planning process, support public engagement and help create consensus at key points in the process. Meetings are open to the public, and all community members interested in staying up-to-date on the planning process are invited to attend and observe.

About the Near Northwest Area Plan

The Near Northwest Planning Area is made up of the Northwest Denver neighborhoods east of Federal Boulevard: Chaffee Park, Sunnyside, Highland, and Jefferson Park. As part of the Neighborhood Planning Initiative, this project provides an opportunity to create a long-term vision for these neighborhoods that furthers citywide goals and priorities while addressing local neighborhood needs.
